pawz, you're turning into a grouch!
Why are you so partisan? If you don't like politicians, how can you defend the President so wholeheartedly when even the NeoCons are complaining about his decisions. And, if you don't like whining, how can you defend the President's little "I'm the Decider" speech? Talk about a thin skin. Poor sport! He's the President. All President's sit on a hot seat -- and should. Personally, I think this one has had a very smooth ride ride for 5 years and only now is he getting the flack he deserves.
I will say this about him: At the White House Correspondents' Dinner Saturday night, he was very entertaining with his look-a-like. It was worthy of Saturday Night Live and the best spot of the evening.
Anyway, it is obvious you are disappointed with the Republicans and the conservatives. We all are. They haven't exactly been exemplary in their leadership, especially, when they came into office using 'values' and 'integrity' as their hallmark for the party.
My mother was always a Democrat, but a favorite uncle of mine was a Republican. So was I, until Reagan, whom I supported against Carter, but was very disappointed with his performance as President. Being a 'nice guy' just isn't enough to carry the load it takes to be the leader of the free world; but, even he was better than the one we have now. Not much, but better, especially his jokes. He had good writers and an entertaining wit. And, I never heard him whine, in spite of the scandal of Ollie North and Bill Casey and the 'basement whitehouse.'
So, you aren't the only one who finds politicians distasteful. Most of us do. Why do you think we're on this forum? So, chill a little.
Americans are not 'stupid.' They're busy trying to stay ahead of the curve and send their kids to a decent school. That takes time and money which seems to be shrinking by the hour if not the second. The early baby boomers turn 60 this year. You ain't seen nothin' yet!

It's still a great place. Awesome building. Perfect location on the Potomac sandwiched in between the Kennedy Center and all the restaurants in Georgetown where "the elite sup." Plus IIRC there's a Chenel and Hermes boutique inside. Been years since I was in the hotel.

Actually I don't support the president in a lot of his decisions, I personally think he should be the type of president that should be seen and not heard in public... every time he opens his mouth he sounds like he couldn't rub two brain cells together to make a coherent thought.
This president has had a tough time for quite some time actually since almost day one after he got into office the first time... There have been very few presidents that have had this kind of smurf thrown at them and still smell good after the fact.
The problem is that the congress and politics in all forms have become too personal. You can't be a nasty SOB at work and then share a beer with your colleagues any more... that just doesn't happen... not like it use to.

The problem isn't just that, the problem is that I feel this country has lost its way... Iraq was a mistake... not in the sense of going in, but we went in for the wrong reasons, the problem is that we went in there caring what the enemy thought about us. You don't win wars worrying about how the enemy feels about you attacking them.
This country as a whole has lost its way, we are more worried about what the other side is going to do, how they are going to screw us over, and how they are going to make it a worse place for us to live. Bi-partisan endeavors are dead, I don't care what anyone says, it will never exist the same way it has in the past as long as we stay the way we are going now.
This country has to stop being to soft, it has to stop worrying about what other countries think about it. This country has to start re-building its infrastructure, it needs to be come a power again... and we won't do it by pandering to the international community.
First thing we need to do is close our borders till we can get the illegal immigration problems taken care of...

The thing with Reagan is that everyone that could hated him... which I can understand to some extent... but the thing is that he was also the one person that helped bring the economy back...it took a long time for it to show it's face but it did, during the Clinton years... it was one of the reasons Clinton could do what he did, which was nothing... We still should of been riding that wave of good economic boom, but Clinton did nothing to keep it going... except raise taxes...
That again is here nor there, it is the past for now...

OK, let's go over this again, since you seem to be missing the point of your own thread.
You: Why can't they use something more clever than tacking "gate" at the end of everything?! grumble grumble..
isaly: "quit yer bitchin' and do something, fer chrissake" - a return to YOUR OWN demand from another thread
You: "I do, but unthankfully newspapers don't apologize for their biased views...."

You: It has been proven (but i won't actually show this "proof") that the press is liberal. (Which completely fails to answer the question posed.)
You made zero sense. And now you're well into the negatives.
So, other than claiming the press is liberal (how that's even relevant to this, I don't know), what are YOU going to do about this horrendous use of the suffix 'gate' that you're bitching about in your first post? And please don't derail your own thread. You are discussing '__gate', not 'the liberal press'. Unless you can somehow link how using '__gate' is a liberal conspiracy of some sort.

I wans't freakin' asking because I don't particularly care since it's IRRELEVANT TO THE TOPIC.
And YES, someone DID ask that you post your "proof", you just ignored it:
Onthebeach wrote:

So I'll ask once more since you seem to be unable to comprehend the point:
You are grumbling about the use of the term "__gate" and how unclever it is.
isaly retorts your own admonition to people that they (you, now) should quit whining and do something.
You respond with the astounding logic leap that the press is biased because it is liberal.
You STILL can't seem to explain how:
A) using the suffix "gate"
and
B) the press is "liberal" ('proven' or not)
have anything - ANYTHING - to do with each other.
Unless you can explain the connection, it's about as logical as saying "I don't like the color of this ink" and "Well, the press is liberal".
