WOW!

Is this new? Last night when i was drifting to sleep, I got a dream someone pulled the photochop pic of apple's homepage with MacBook ad on it and I said "looks real to me!". I wasn't hallucinating!

Re: MACBOOK
What's the difference between ANY of the Macbooks? The $1500 version does not look enticing (besides the BLACK OMGOGMOGMOGMOGGO), what do you get, 200 mhz and a better burner?
tito
shut up tito.
PICES
indeed.

What is the difference between 1299 white and 1499 black beside the 20G in hd?

Re: MACBOOK
if you max the HD and Ram on both the black and the white you still get a diff of $150. that is some expensive paint.

Re: MACBOOK
Apple is really starting to piss me off. Laptops start at 1,100 that is way too much for the entry level laptop. Why does every other company have laptops for as low as $700? How about a core solo for $699 or even $799 $1,100 is too much money.

(I know it is crappy but is the macbook worth 120% more than the Dell?)

OMG! They finally came out. Wow. Now I am going to look at them and find everything I hate about them.

Re: MACBOOK
Thats a lot of extra cash for an extra 20gb and some black paint, you can add a 120gb hd for about the same price.

I was also holding out hope for an entry level version at around $800 ($700 seemed too much to hope for). They should have at least kept it at $999.
I guess it'll be a while before I upgrade the G4 iMac. I don't have all the money to toss around like some folks around here. Sometimes I think people here buy computers as often as I change socks which tells me I'm in the wrong line of work.

Re: MACBOOK
Black is cool, so everyone will pay 200 bucks plus for the black paint.
Apple is profit oriented, remember?

Re: MACBOOK
I think considering the RAM is on 2 chips and that there is no dedicated graphics card, these should have started at $999. Also, I agree that the black one is a rip off. Otherwise, I'm very impressed. They seem like great machines.

The only difference i see with them besides the hard drive bump is the little blurb on the side by side of the whol macbook family comparison. "Black, durable polycarbonate"

And it is in Black! How naive can you be?
I was about to say that I would love to pick up a Black iBook this fall for classes but not for an extra $200. That's madness!

I didn't want to mention anything about the color for fear of offending someone.

Who thought the cost would go down outright? We are paying for the costs to switch over, if you wait a while they will normalize by next year. Heck i can even see them going down.

Re: MACBOOK
$1100 is to the iBook line what $600 was to the Mac mini line. IMO, it's not that big of a price jump, all things considered.
http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Image … chart.html
I am *so* getting a black MacBook, though.
[wait...shared video memory? Blech!]
Aside from that, this is an overall upgrade from my 12" PowerBook G4:
- Built-in iSight (which I will use)
- Superdrive (mine is the Combo drive version)
- Larger, higher res display
- Gigabit ethernet (mine is currently 10/100)
- Magsafe connector
- Built-in support for Front Row (plus remote)
- 2GB max RAM (mine is currently maxed @ 1.25GB)
- Harder-to-ding plastic casing (my beautiful aluminum PB got dinged by my clumsy teenager!)
- Ability to dual-boot into Windows if needed
The only thing I'll be losing is the 100GB HD I've installed. And I'd like to have an expansion slot, but since I don't currently have one, I won't be missing out on that, either.
Can anyone tell me how much impact the shared video is going to have, compared to the 64MB ATI Radeon Mobile I'm using now? The only gaming I'll be doing is World of Warcraft, but I may be using it to troubleshoot Final Cut Studio for some clients.

Re: MACBOOK
If you have a Bluetooth cell phone, you can use MacBook to send and receive SMS messages. Even better, you don’t have to enter in everyone’s phone number, you can just copy them from your Address Book. (Or, fill up your MacBook Address Book from your phone.)
From the Wireless section on the product page. Is this something new, i don't recall this feature being built into the OS.

Re: MACBOOK
the most affordable iBook ever.

granted they didn't want to give away the name but based on that I was expecting less money.
