Again, if state what it is XP Home is missing that makes it a "requirement". You're argument so far is no more convincing than if you were insisting both computers had to be the same color to be comprable.
Again, claiming "Dell recommends it!" means nothing. Of COURSE companies that are trying to sell you things want to sell you something that's more expensive. Even more so in Microsoft's case, since a copy of Pro costs the same as a copy of Home to them.
And you've still yet to expain why coupons and sales that are available to everyone somehow AREN'T available to everyone, while corprate/educational discounts at Apple somehow do count for everyone.
And BTW, YOU are the one that turned this into what it is. I came here to talk about the Macbook, but I'm not going to let gross inaccuracies just sit there.
Is ok, tigerwolf7, MacBoywhatever is gone for good, so there is really no reason to correct his argument, lets refocus this tread back to MacBook the machine instead.

Soooo, what about the users that never wash their hands and blame it on the MacBook?
Trust me I support 1000 of users on different platforms some keyboards are horrid!!! some are pristine . . . White, black, beige; it doesn't matter.

Re: MACBOOK
Speaking of which, what does the Macbook keyboard feel like? It looks...different...from other laptop keybaords. Don't know if that's good or bad.
If/when I finally get a laptop I'm planning to mostly use it with a USB keyboard (and a seperate monitor, etc.), so luckily not too big of a deal for me.

Re: MACBOOK
If you really look at it the Macbook kb is not much different than the usual kb. The usual keyboard is sculpted kind of like a sawed off pyramid. It has a wide base but the contact area is much smaller. The Macbook eliminates the wider base but the contact area is pretty much like the usual kb. It looks different but it is functionally pretty much the same.
BTW This thread has taken some weird turns.

Perhaps Apple is using subversive tactics to make sure people type properly - and don't rest their wrists on the keyboard...
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

The spots mentioned do not come off with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, iClean or iKlear, or Windex. It's a flaw in the plastic or design.

Re: MACBOOK
Macbook keyboard is fine to me. I like the look and feel of it. I typed out an e-mail on one at my local store earlier this evening. Only had one mistake in the whole thing, accidentally hitting Caps Lock when I was reaching for the "A". Otherwise it was smooth sailing. I'd buy one if I had the cash.

Re: MACBOOK
It feels weird up on the table, put it in your lap however and its beautiful. Almost as good, if not as good as the Pismo's. I will also mention that the placement of the trackpad and button close to the front of the case like the Pismo/iBook works so much better than having it halfway up the case like on the PowerBooks/MacBook Pros. Just one of those little ergonomic things you won't notice in the store.

The large touchpad and the double tab(right click) work well also.

So did you end up getting another one? I might have missed that earlier in the thread. If so, I am glad to see that you were taken care of.

Not yet, I am waiting for news of a fix before I go thru that again, I got a feeling I might be waiting-waiting-waiting and end up getting a refub mbp for 1599 instead

Re: MACBOOK
It looks like some of the white Macbooks are turning yellow due to heat:

Or stop smoking around it. Smokers always seem to fail to realize that they actually generate smoke, and that smoke does stuff like create dust and turn things yellow, and then they are alll surprised: "how did that happen?"

Re: MACBOOK
A plastic that permanently stains from a chemical reaction from the oils in human skin is a flaw. It is not due to smoking or dirty people.
It's a freakin' portable computer. Isn't it supposed to be built for abuse?

Re: MACBOOK
I know that the left side of my girlfriend's iBook has a dark spot from where her hand rests, but the right side does not. This is because the right side gets much hotter than the left, and about a year of use has caused a stain there. Right side is spotless.
Slightly poor design. She still loves her iBook.
