The Phone and the Bathroom
We all have been in that situation one way or another. Either you are in the bathroom, and the phone rings, or you are on the phone, and you have to go to the bathroom.
What brings this up you may be asking? Just the other day, I was talking to a friend. He was taking a tinkle [words chosen carefully for family forum] Normally, I wouldn't notice, but we're talking full sound effects here.
With that said - do you have any shame with being on the phone while in the bathroom? Do you try to hide it? (i.e. no flushing, sitting down regardless of what you have to do, etc).
Me personally? It happens - I don't intentionally let it happen - and only in emergency situations. I do try and hide it and don't dare tell anyone.

I find it gross and disrespectful. If you have to go, just excuse yourself and say you'll call back in 3 minutes.

if its with someone in my immediate family, then i don't care and they don't care. Otherwise i hold it till I'm done. Not that this situation comes up often though.

Re: The Phone and the Bathroom
The only time I talk on the phone in the bathroom is when I've been waiting on hold for so long that the urge to pee has risen and there's no way in hell I'm going to extend my wait by calling back again.
Aside from that, people don't need to hear me pee or talk with that weird bathroom echo. echo.
"Hi, Tracy." I declared warmly. "It's me. Tek Jansen."

Re: The Phone and the Bathroom
Depends on who it is, if its a business cal I wouldnt ever do that but if it was one of my good buds I would and I might even hold the phone so he could hear better then we would laugh about it.....

no, no, you dont' understand. It's so that you can call for help when you're purging the night's alcohol.

Re: The Phone and the Bathroom
Somewhat off topic, but, whenever I'm in a public restroom and some moron is talking really loudly into her cell phone, I will purposefully flush multiple times in succession. Not only do I NOT want to hear her talk about her private business on the phone, I do not want the person she's talking to to hear MY business! So far, the moron has been gone by the end of the third flush.
So, to answer your question, wait or call back.

Re: The Phone and the Bathroom
I was in a hotel in Switzerland last week which had a phone mounted beside the bath (no, it wasn't the shower!). It could only receive incoming calls, and dial the reception. I had to wonder what the point was... do people routinely need assistance getting out the bath? Or does it feel strangely liberating to order room service while taking a dump?

Re: The Phone and the Bathroom
depends, that way you don't have to hold it and no one knows.
I've taken a piss while on the phone and people I'm on the phone with have done it as well. in my experiance a #2 requires you to set the phone down to wipe anyway so you may as well call them back or leave the phone in the other room while you go sort out your business.

Re: The Phone and the Bathroom
Pee pee pee. I pee. I pee loudly. I flush. All on the phone. As Pariah said, if it was a phone interview or someone outside my family and social circle, I would have second thoughts.
The second thought, of course, being sit down and pee quietly.
I draw the line at pinching one off though.

Only when in hotels... you mean you don't?
OK, just to be clear, it was mounted on the wall between the bath and the smurf. It had a very long wire, probably so you could call while using the bidet (not that anyone ever does).

Not too long ago, my daughter got sick at work. Sick as in IBS. When she went in, there was already someone in another stall talking to someone on the phone. My daughter went about her business, which meant also creating an unpleasant smell in the bathroom, and the woman started complaining loudly to the person on the other end of the line that someone was stinking up the bathroom. She said the woman kept letting out breaths like she was pissed off.
My daughter said she just gave the woman a dirty look when she left the stall, and had she not been at work, she woulda gave her a piece of her mind.
It always amazes me when people get pissed off or annoyed because someone has stunk up the bathroom. WTF do they think it is? A spa?
