I felt this didn't warrant a new thread, since this one was still on the main page:
There will be 2 designs of Merom, the second of which will have a new socket
So it looks like owners of iMacs and Mac minis can upgrade to a Merom chip, but not the second wave, as it will have a different socket.
Or it will just require an upgrade vendor to create a solution.
