macbook discolor problem
I have been reading reports that the white macbooks discolor after a month of use. For those owners of Macbooks, are you experiencing this problem?

Re: macbook discolor problem
Sorry to bring this back. I just had to say that this IS a problem. Mine just started to discolor about an inch from the track pad yesterday. This is my 3rd Macbook (Black one had slight flaking paint, 2nd one (white) had a bad superdrive and 2 dead pixels, and this one has been fine for a month and a half, until now).
For everybody that just says "wash your hands before using your computer" I can assure you that is not the problem, since I wash my hands all the time and I take care of this laptop extremely well, plus, the keys look FINE - and if my hands were dirty it would certainly show on there.
I am not sure what to do about this problem. I am so sick of calling apple and complaining because I don't wanna be one of "those customers." I do have Applecare, and I know it doesn't cover "cosmetic" issues, but I feel that if an item is advertised as "white" and does not stay white, than it is Apple's problem and not mine. I do not think I should have to live with an ugly stained laptop that cost a lot of money...PCs barely ever have these problems...its plastic for god's sake.
What do you guys suggest I do? Have them fix it? Forget about it?
goodbye

Re: macbook discolor problem
I would wait until the problem is quite obvious and then go to an Apple Store or call Apple Care and offer to send them a picture of the discoloration.
I just bought one of the last remaining 12"iBooks, which I'll pass along to my daughter when she enters college next year. At that time I'll buy a MacBook, hopefully with the various bugs fixed.

Re: macbook discolor problem
No problems from me and I've had my MacBook for about 1 and 3/4 months.

Re: macbook discolor problem
What are these new MacBooks made out of they they discolor? I would have thought they had the whole white computer thing worked out by now.

Re: macbook discolor problem
Yes, there is a known problem with the plastic casing. Apple has acknowledged this and they are replacing the faulty MacBooks.
If you can, take it to an Apple store and firmly request that they transfer your HD to a new Macbook. They other option would be to mail it in to Apple.
