Last one I bought was "The Life Aquatic".
Except for a few moments with Owen and Kate when it lags this is an extremely funny film!

King Kong
I don't kow if it was too long, or I was overwhelmed by the FX, or what...but I just didn't get emotionally involved like with the original. When the monkey fell, I was glad it was over.

Dave Chappelle's Block Party...
really good documentary and worth checking out even if you're not into hip hop (although the acts in the movie are spectacular). I'm kind of surprised it didn't do better at the box office, it was one of the more entertaining things I've seen recently.

Awesome movie.
-=-
Before Short Circuit - I bought the three LOTR special editions - price finally came down to where it was worth it.
Next DVD purchase will probably be Stargate Atlantis Season II followed by Stargate SG1 season 9.
After that - I don't know. Maybe original Star Wars trilogy.
I also need to replace my Matrix DVD - I'm not interested in Matrix II or III though - both of them sucked.
Oh - I need to get "Tank Girl" on DVD - I only have it on VHS and my VCR is no longer hooked up. I'd like to get the European version, I hear it has some stuff cut in the US version. I bet I can't get it as region 1 - though I could probably rip/burn in Linux. I'd need to update the firmware on my DVD-ROM drive to be region free though.
Oh - and I'd like to have "French Kiss" on DVD. It's in my netflix Q coming up soon, so I probably don't need to buy it for another three months or so.
I migh by Cleopatra - the one with Elizabeth Taylor.
Netflix doesn't seem to have it, I probably want to buy it anyway. It's not historically accurate, but who gives a damn.

Re: DVD purchases
I think the last DVD I bought was 'Red Dwarf VIII'. I probably would have bought 'Cemetary Man' if we actually had gotten in copies at our store. I may have to request some to add to inventory.

I recently did the Columbia House DVD club thing, but I can't for the life of me remember the last titles I bought. I know King Kong was among them, but that's all I can recall at the moment.

Most recently, I bought the original Godfather, and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Both are great films.

That's one DVD I'm glad I didn't buy. It generates about as much as excitement as reflected in Napoleon's expression.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the movie myself. I saw it in the theater and it was pretty much, "meh". But my dad likes making fun of nerds, so he's entertained by it.

Since I only buy DVDs twice a year, and everything was 20% off (thank you, DeepDiscountDVD), I figured I could splurge on stuff I'd been waiting a long time to buy. You wouldn't believe how much some of those guys spend on these sales. One college student spent over $1600 on DVDs! Inconceivable!
