You don't take away bitterness with salt, smarty-pants.
I think he's referring to "salt of the earth" and all that.
No, I'm betting he meant "sugar," which, unlike salt, is not bitter.
Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

I never said it was.
Nor would qualify the Lady Liberty with a Cross as artwork.

Then again - if one added enough salt, no-one would notice or give a damn about the bitterness anymore.
As for the statue - UGH, how smurfing tacky can you get?

I think it looks like a quality statue.
I could bore you with a philosophical tirade about freedom and tyranny, or try and explain to you what new horizons are suddenly open to me, but I doubt you would understand and if you did it might frighten you. That amuses me.

Woah, nice strawman there, Noxxy. But to address your non-point, yes they're BOTH art. Whether you agree with the message or not doesn't change that aspect of it, and probably fortifies it.
art 1 |ärt|
noun
1 the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power : the art of the Renaissance | great art is concerned with moral imperfections | she studied art in Paris.
• works produced by such skill and imagination : his collection of modern art | an exhibition of Tibetan art | [as adj. ] an art critic.
• creative activity resulting in the production of paintings, drawings, or sculpture : she's good at art.
So unless you have objections to the dictionary, I think this answers your, um... whatever it is you were trying to say.

This reminds me of the dispute over the seal of Los Angeles County. The original seal contained a small cross and a large depiction of the goddess Pomona. In the new seal, the cross is gone and the goddess is replaced with a Native American woman. Oh, and the pictures of oil wells are gone too. Thank goodness the Hollywood Bowl is still there (though the actual orchestra shell was demolished a few years back, and replaced with a facsimile).

Williams, a prominent Memphis leader, has a reputation for public displays of faith. According to the Commercial Appeal, his church has bought full-page advertisements in the Memphis newspaper condemning homosexuality.
In The Meaning of the Statue of Liberation Through Christ: Reconnecting Patriotism With Christianity, Williams wrote that the teardrop on the statue represents God's response to the nation's ills -- abortion, a lack of prayer in schools and New Age philosophy.
So it appears that this $260K statue is nothing more than a marketing gimmick to push his new book. Not to mention that he's just yet another fundy whackjob wasting lots of church members' money (some of who probably can't afford to give a lot) on stupid stuff like this.
Lady Liberty is crying because we take things like freedom of religion and expression and use them to push other people down and treat them with disdain. And well, to display crap like this. It's just tacky. A flock of plastic pink flamingoes on the church lawn would be less tacky.
I do like the strap on dildo idea though. I might have to stop by that church if I'm ever in Memphis...

I give your troll 1 star out of 5.
We aren't offended by free speech or expression, we are offended by the content of this example of free speech / expression.
Noone here said that the persons building the statue shouldn't be allowed to build it, but we can critique and judge what they put up however much we like - which is itself freedom of speech and expression :-p
