Too Damn Hot
It's smurfing hot. I hate hot.
My indoor/outdoor thermometer says that it is 102° F outside and 92° F in the house. I'm sure it's at least 95° in my room. Our so-called air conditioner only blows air around, it doesn't actually cool anything, so turning it on is not an option. (Tell my roomie it needs fixin', he's my landlord.)
I am so smurfing miserable right now, I can't even tell you. I took a cool shower and broke into a sweat toweling myself off. The sheets on my bed are hot to the touch. I am almost in tears over how hot and smurfy I feel.
And not only is it like this now, it is going to be hotter over the weekend and I have outdoor gigs, in the afternoon, both days.
When will it cool down? When will it rain?!
I love Minnesota, I will die here, I decided that a long, long time ago. But I would rather pile on layer after layer of clothing in the coldest, windiest winter than deal with this heat.
Plans to cool down: hanging with any friend who has air conditioning. Jumping into a lake (one of the weekend gigs is on Big Fish Lake -- what an utterly Minnesotan name). Going to a movie in a nice, air conditioned theater.
Okay... that's my rant.
God, I hate the heat.

Only got to about 96F outside here today.
A nice break from the heat wave we've been having (over 110F several days)

I am in my apartment. I have a window A/C unit, 19 cans of soda left, and nothing to do all weekend.
/sits underneath A/C unit in underwear, resolves not to move for 48 hours.

One of the nice things about malls is that you can spend several hours in them and not have to pay for AC and then come home with some cool stuff.
Yeah, but you end up paying for the AC when you buy the cool stuff.
And who want's to come home to a hothouse? You're paying for AC the whole time you're gone.

Re: Too Damn Hot
I can't stand it anymore. It's 86º outside my house just before 10pm, and it's 86º inside my house as well.
I spent the entire day outside working on my CJ, and I actually enjoyed being outside in the heat more than inside in the heat. My next house will have something to cool my nads off. This is ridiculous.
Oh, and tomorrow is supposed to be 101º. Great.

What sucks more for Pith is I bet when it's hot people are less likely to crave coffee.

I recall that story and specifically this quote:
"We weren't aware of this," said corporate spokeswoman Sharon Weber, "but it's not something we condone. We're a retailer, not a hotel."
What an asshat corporate response. Free advertising and all they can think to do is condemn the person bringing it to them? As if there wasn't already enough reasons to say "smurf Wal-Mart".

At 10pm here last night, it was 100°. The sun was down, and we had a rolling brown out.

My weather widget says it's gonna get up to 92° with T-storms today, and it'll be 95 on Monday and 99 on Tuesday (eek!). This is in Northern VA. I hope it cools down before band camp... that's a week away.

Re: Too Damn Hot
The Saturday gig was actually not that bad, it was in the country so it was a bit cooler. Plus the house we played at is on a small, spring-fed lake, so we got to go swimming between sets. Later I hung out with a woman I dig in her air-conditioned living room. I didn't even mind watching Kyle XY (which I call Xyle KY).
Some friends have an extra window-mount a/c and are dropping it by today!! At least my room will be cool. I may never want to leave. Until fall, that is.

Re: Too Damn Hot
You think it's hot where you live....it's been 115 degrees in Kansas City the past couple of days! At least my air conditioning works. Have you thought about buying a window unit air conditioner? You can get used ones for like $40, would be good until you can get your regular AC fixed.

It's been so hot here, that there's been a back log for AC repair visits. Minimum 2-3 week wait for anyone to come out. I guess a lot of people had AC units on the fritz and when hit with the heat wave, everyone started calling for repairs.

It was 116° here for a few days. Its finally down to 90s and 80s.
Swimming in a hot pool is probably the 32nd worst thing in the world, leading mistaking wasabi for guacamole and following having a skunk die under your floorboards.

Philadelphia is forecast for 100 and 101 the next couple of days, with a lot of humidity too. I realize that this isn't as hot as some folks have seen but it will be the highest here so far this year.

Re: Too Damn Hot
I gotta say that driving the CJ this morning with the temp finally down to 64° was incredible. Top off, doors off, cool air, and a big cup of coffee for my morning commute almost makes me enjoy coming to work. Almost.

Re: Too Damn Hot
It's odd how we adjust. It was 75º this morning, and less humid; normal in other words. It felt like 64º, and that felt fine indeed.

It was so hot outside you couldn't tell it was lit unless it sizzled when you spit on it?
