Calling on Powerlogix 7447 owners...
Because PL and OWC aren't being friendly to clockers as much anymore, i've decided to try to compile a PLL dip switch settings list. Reason being is I just got a 1.5Ghz 7447 for my Cube and it's stock speed is taunting me
. I've written OWC and they just gave me a Sonnet answer and while Mike at xlr8 is trying to get a hold of his PL contacts, i'm gonna try something else.
What i'm asking is for those of you with PL 7447 upgrades to please check the dip switch settings and list them. I know theres the chance that different upgrades may have different switch settings but i'm hoping that because the 47s seemed to all use the same board designs that PL kept switch settings more universal. Thanks!!

Re: Calling on Powerlogix 7447 owners...
Well 1.6Ghz works. I did have a different 15x setting on mine than on the chart. It was 1-3 up and 4-6 down. K gonna try for 1.8Ghz now since theres no 17x setting on that chart.
Edit: 1.8Ghz and feeling fine. Noticible difference from 1.5Ghz. heheh, just got a free $100 worth of Mhz. Man I love clocking.

Re: Calling on Powerlogix 7447 owners...
Hey i've been busy. Working a lot and in my spare time, playing WoW and other games. I finally got my WoW review out over at Macologist. Took months to get that one done.
Funny thing about my fans. OWC ships one with the upgrade, but the connector doesn't fit in the VRM spot despite the fact it is made for it. The connector actually I think is just slightly bigger than the socket. Now since OWC didnt advertise it shipped with a fan, I ordered another fan for only about $6 from OWC. Now this fan did fit and worked but instead of putting it in my Cube and replacing my GigaBluefan, I spliced the wires and got my Bluefan back on the proper connector (the old connector snapped off and I had it rigged thru the onboard 5V socket). So now I got my Giga fan back up and running nice again along with my new CPU.
Hey if those 19x or 20x settings ever are found i'd gladly try 1.9 or 2Ghz on this. So far heatlevels haven't been that bad. You do notice the performance from 1.5-1.8Ghz. At 1.5Ghz it didn't feel much faster than my original 600Mhz 7410, but at 1.8...its now feeling more like an upgrade. I'd post benchmarks but I got some HD problems impacting speed so at the moment its like things are trying to run faster but the disk really needs an overhaul. I think its time I got a new Diskwarrior.

if i run across anymore charts, I shall pass them on. glad you got it figured out past the chart tho.

Re: Calling on Powerlogix 7447 owners...
hey, i just got this cpu here for my da/466. man its awsome. and i'd like to try some oc'ing myself. has anyone else done it with this chip? i do know what settings i need for the higher mutiplyers because of the paper that came with the cpu, but it only lists the speeds for those setings for 100mhz bus macs. and how can i find out what temp its running at, and when its too hot?
btw, just so you know, i am a x86 experienced oc'er, but i know very little about ppc oc'ing.
<EDIT> i did find this which lists the speeds. but i still don't know what is too much as for heat and stabilty. so if there's any that have done it let me know.

Re: Calling on Powerlogix 7447 owners...
Thats a 7455B chip, its pretty much overclocked to the max it can go. Bout the tops i've seen them run is around 1.6Ghz but the problem you have is not only heat levels but also L3 cache speed. The L3 cache will only run so fast and when clocking up it also clocks the L3.
For the speeds that you have, if it gave you base multipliers or not, just calculate with a 133Mhz bus instead of 100Mhz. Hopefully they provided multiplier #s but if not, just run the calculations yourself. If jumper x = y speed then just figure out what times 100 = that speed. Then next just change the 100 to 133 and you should be able to get your 133Mhz bus settings.

so you're telling me that 2ghz is out of the question, right? )~
i guess after a couple months i might up it to 1.6, thanks.

Re: Calling on Powerlogix 7447 owners...
Yeah with a 7455 theres no way it will do 2Ghz. 7447s and 48s will do 2Ghz but not 55/57s.

Re: Calling on Powerlogix 7447 owners...
how high would a 7457 that is clocked at 1.2Ghz go up to? its a powerlogix dual processor card on a 133 mhz bus. the ambient room temp is about 60°F, but the processor deosnt have a temp hookup so i cant tell what it is.
currently (the 1.2Ghz PIII in the same room in a pizzabox case never goes over 130°F(cpu) 90°F(chassis))
oh and before you ask, the pc runs fah, winxp (i needed to be able to use the networking bridge feature), and a VPN server so that i can access it with my mac. basically, its purpose is to act as a wireless access point, and to run fah.
