It's a girl! ...And a new job! :)

I know, I haven't been around for a little while.  The truth is that this thing people keep calling "real life" has had a pretty good grip on me lately.

I just thought that I would stop by and say hi, and share my good fortune...

Last week, I was informed of my dealership's decision to promote me to sales manager.  You know, when you go to a dealership, and the sales person says, "I don't know... I've got to go run this by my boss..."  And then he points behind a big desk, and you see a guy up there running the show?  I'm that guy now.  smile

I started the position, officially, today.  It's actually a pretty good accomplishment, and quite a feat for someone my age (28).  You don't normally see someone in their twenties in charge of the place.  smile

But it gets better.  At 10:48 PM, that same evening, my little girl was born!

Pixplsthnx!  big_smile

CONGRATS on both. Best of luck with the job and I'm sure that she will be daddy's little princess in no time flat.

Well, it's not your typical "desk job."  A sales manager is paid on commission, just as a sales person is, but it is a smaller percentage, on everything the store sells.

The truth is though that I am not an average sales person.  I produce two to three times the sales that an average sales person does.  This means that I will be making, all in all, pretty close to the same as I have been.  The highs won't be as high, but the lows will not be as low either.  Plus, there are other things to consider as well.  For one, I now get a car as one of my benefits.  Also, I will be off every other weekend.  I haven't had weekends off since I was fifteen!  This will be quality time to spend with my kids.

I have been a great sales person, so I am hoping that I will be a great sales manager as well.  It is my plan to teach my people every day, and to help when necessary, and see if I can get the sales department up to record neighbors.  If I can do it as an individual, perhaps I can help the group as a whole, to do the same.  We'll see...

Maybe this will give me the time that I need to write that book that I've been meaning to get around to.  big_smile

Breeder! smile

So is it true that when the salesman goes to "talk to the manager" all you really do is gossip about the customer? smile

Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.
