Yeah, full-screen all the time sucks, esp since very few apps actually need all that space, thereby hindering multi-tasking for no reason at all.  Equally disappointing is the way software designers invariably find ways to fill the empty space with useless crap.  Nevertheless, the OS X zoom button is in need of some sort of consistancy.  Case in point: Safari.

not using safari, i won't verify this, but i was uder the impression that the zoom button in safari always sized the window to the content inside.

zoom in safari = vertical expansion to screen size. the horizontal stays the same size.
pretty nifty eh?

Only when the page width is equal to/less than 800px. I believe the default behaviour in cocoa is stretch to the screen width though.

pretty smurfing irritating if you have a landscape display eh?

Fixed.
I'd be happy if even Shift-Zoom worked as a proper maximise.

Yes, the Finder needs a thick coat of varnish.

Back on topic, there's two things that caught my attention.  The first is what appears to be a green Core Graphics icon underneath the MacBook, though this would be easier to verify if the larger pic were available.  I'm not sure what this means, but hopefully it means Apple fixed OpenGL.  The second is the hopelessly cut-off text "...nt platform."  Hopefully it says "software independent platform," indicating seamless native execution of Windows apps, but I won't hold my breath.

Apple will not build in a windows compatibility layer. Period, end of story.
They are taking what I see as a very logical course of letting 3rd parties handle that with the option of dual booting thoughtfully provided. Providing a Windows compatibility layer would open a huge can of worms for Apple.
The last thing Apple wants is people calling tech support complaining their obscure windows app wont run right.

Re: Leopard Hints-- From Apple

It was wishful thinking.  I don't think they'll do it either, esp since it would kill native 3rd-party development.

Re: Leopard Hints-- From Apple

Well, yeah. smile But at least I had heard the app's name long before and what it was for. I've just never seen the icon. I also seem to remember that it comes with Tiger, but with Panther (which is what I'm using until I get Leopard, which I will be pre-ordering) it's a seperate download. I never had a use for it, so I never downloaded it and thus I never saw the icon.
