Spring loaded Folders in the Dock would make me very, very, very happy. Even after years of using OSX I still miss pop-up windows from OS9 every single God Damned day.

Then you won't be able to use folders like imitation start bars in the dock. I liked doing that.

Why not? Spring loaded folders has nothing to do with right-clicking a folder.

I take it you haven't used OS 9?
Drag and drop and item onto a folder, hold it for a few seconds, and the folder opens so that you can place the item into it. What were talking about is having this with folders in the Dock.
OS 9 also had the ability to drag a Finder window to the edge of the screen so that it would then be condensed to a spring loadable or clickable tab.

The way spring loaded folders could work with OSX is that draging a file to it would pop it open, right clicking on it would pop up a menu like it does now. That would be great and wouldnt change current behavior for people who dont care for the spring loaded action.

I don't like spring loaded folders. Maybe I'm the only one, but I find it annoying as when placing a doc in a folder they don't auto-align, and therefore, I have this feature turned off.

I think it's worth pointing out in this thread that spring loaded folders exist in OS X - in the Finder. Drag a file onto a folder or hard disk and it pops open if you keep holding it there.
Just FYI for those who don't use it.

One great thing of Spring Loaded Folders not mentioned here is that if you have a big folder, say the User folder, and want to go a few levels down, you could. When it was done, it would go away. That way you didn't have to start say, at the HD level.

Well, in OSX, if a folder is partly off screen and you drag a file to it, it does come fully into view.
Which is kind of the same thing, except for the tabbed bit.
Which was great.
Which I miss.
Kinda. Only used spring loaded folders to launch apps-had the view set to buttons. Was a dock ahead of it's time my old G3. Do I get a credit from that Cupertino lot?

if you don't want to wait for the sping-loaded folder to spring open, you can hit the space bar to open the folder instantly
