Alien's guide to buying a digital camera:
1. Decide which type of camera you want. (SLR/ultra-slim/compact)
Did that

Did that too

3. Buy the Canon that fits both categories.
Did not do that 'cause I didn't see this thread until now. I've ordered a
Samsung L60 and I'm getting it tomorrow. It got a nice review from both CNet and
Steve's
Now, where in the name of... did I put that thing that I forgot what it was and why I was looking for it?

Re: Any digital camera gurus?
I don't have too much respect for CNET, but I found Steve's Digicams and DP Review to be among the most in-depth review sites when recently buying a similar camera myself. I eventually made a head-over-heart purchase, going for the Fuji F11 over the Lumix FX01, mainly because of the numerous rave reviews of the F10/F11, but also this comparison. Admittedly the fact the Fuji was available for £60 less was also an influential factor!
So far I'm really pleased with it, and hope to get some good holiday snaps when I go away next weekend. It's awesome to own a digital camera that doesn't eat 2 x AA batts with every 10 shots
If Steve's and/or DPR said it was good, then I reckon you won't be disappointed.

Thanks,I'll return with a short report when I've used it for a while. It wasn't available at DPR but Steve "liked" it
