What are you doing with your GameCube?
Those of you who own GameCubes and are going to buy the Wii, what are you planning on doing with your GameCubes? Are you going to keep them around for nostalgia's sake? Sell them? Give them away?
I'm going to hold onto my games and controllers since they'll work with the Wii, but I'm planning on giving the GameCube itself away to a good home. I hope to find a friend or a friend of a friend who will play with the system and really enjoy it.
I really hope that whoever gets it really does use it. When I bought my original DS, I gave my GBA to my sister. She played it a little, maybe. But then she ended up getting a DS herself! I think the GBA is now just sitting in a box somewhere. I'd give her my GameCube, but she doesn't own a TV.
When I bought my DS Lite, I gave my original DS to my husband. He plays it some, but really only when I talk him into a multiplayer game. Still fun though.
I suppose this question could really apply to any new systems that are backwards compatible. What do you do with your old systems?

Someone is copying entries from their LiveJournal… :squint:
I dunno. I might give it to a friend, haven't decided yet.

Hmm, I might keep it for nostalgia's sake. That's what I did with my iMac DV. I could give the GameCube to a friend, but most of them are happy with their PS2s.

Re: What are you doing with your GameCube?
It's a brilliant strategy to make the games backwards compatible and accessory compatible; it'll create a surge in accessories purchases for the people getting GameCubes for free, and there'll be a new surge in GameCube game sales during the Wiinomenon.

Yeah, I have no idea what I'm going to do with my Gamecube. I don't know anyone who would want one that doesn't already have one.

Probably give it to my sister so she can play Animal Crossing and Chibi Robo anytime she wants.

I have always traded up.
SNES to 64 to GC to Wii
I did not buy a virtual boy.

Re: What are you doing with your GameCube?
I suppose you could call it a build-up to Wii, but I've been going back and playing a lot of my favorite GameCube games. That and enjoying the crap out of Super Strikers. The Wii being wholly compatible with all the junk I have is super awesome. Don't know what will become of the little purple guy, though.

I'll probably keep it around for no real reason, but I don't plan on getting a Wii right away. Of course, the Wii is the only console from Nintendo (excluding Gameboys, at least until the DS) where you wouldn't lose something by "trading up." The N64 still has a few of my favorite games.

I have no idea... I just bought the thing a year ago! I don't think I'll get much for it if I try to sell it.

If you have one that can handle component I'm sure someone will pay way too much for it.

Re: What are you doing with your GameCube?
That reminds me. I was planning on going over to the used game store and selling my Cube for whatever they'll give me for it. Because I'm sure the used price will drop to nearly nothing when the Wii comes out. I can do without my Cube until I get a Wii. I mean, there are no good new games on the Cube anyway...

Well, my brother owns the GCN, so I'm going to be fine.

I would think that you wouldn't get $20 for it.
But I guess that IS something to look into.
I'll check the chain places on Monday.

Okay, here's the dealie, at EB Games they only offer $30 for a GameCube in good condition with a controller. Soon, very soon, they'll be offering up to $50 along with an additional promo with a Wii pre-order within the next few weeks.
So there you go. Anyone heard how Game Haven, Game Crazy, Game Stop/ Funcoland, etc. are handling it?

Re: What are you doing with your GameCube?
I'm torn between a Wii and a PS3.
I don't have that many GameCube games, so I wouldn't be too torn because of it. I just happen to like the Mario games for kids.

I think the PS3 is low end of the totem poll for me. I'll probably get a Wii and then a 360 when Halo 3 comes out.
Ohh and as for the game cubes. I advise that we all gather our game cubes and build a fort out of them. They're very brick like.

I don't like to give M$ more money, so no 360 for me.
