Re: Why the emo hate?
Ah for the good old days when "Punk Rock" meant rock 'n roll that "any old punk" could make as opposed to the corporate prog studio promoted music. Then in the '80s, punk only meant loud, hard, aggressive music, whilst "New Wave" was invented for the rest. Similar digression with goth (what we in the old days called "Death Rock"), emo, grunge, alternative. It's just frickin' music and clothes. Can't people just wear and listen to whatever they feel like, anytime?

Re: Why the emo hate?
Emo to me was Dag Nasty, Embrace, Soul Side, the first two Shudder to Think records, Moss Icon, 7 Seconds after "Praise," etc.
Now I just call that stuff easy listening hardcore.

So, what about chicks who dress all Bettie Page? Are they Goth or Emo?

Re: Why the emo hate?
From the people I've interviewed for my documentary, there is a lot of crossing between Goth, punk, Deathmetal & Emo & others. I've talked to some that appeared Goth but considered themselves Death rockers, Goths who looked punk, punkers who looked Emo, etc. etc. I've also found that adults that are Goth or punk or whatever tend to dress and behave differently than high schoolers who classify themselves the same way.

Well, then I guess they're much more likely to be goth than emo. Or they could just be into BDSM... But, seriously, probably goth then.

I'll buy that for a dollar!
