iTunes 7 on a G3 and Firewire
I downloaded the new iTunes 7 and want to run it on my G3 iMac 600MHz. Every feature works like a charm, except PLAY. It crashes every time I try to play something. I can browse the store, view covers with Cover Flow, buy and download stuff, add music from a USB drive to the Firewire drive my library is on... but I cannot listen to my own music, nor iTS preview clips. What gives? I've repaired permissions, and all Apple updates are installed and up to date. Anyone else with Firewire drives seeing this?

Not sure what you meant about the USB. Are you sure you're playing music from the firewire drive and not from whatever the USB drive is that you mentioned?

Yes. I'm copying my tunes from my work computer with a 6 GB usb micro-drive. It'll take about 5 round trips. My iTunes library is at 250GB:Daryl:iTunes. The copy process is finished now, so I'll try a few more things to get this to work. Maybe iTunes doesn't like drive names starting with 3 numbers, or two externals going at once...

do you have any audio plug ins installed? Mine kept crashing until I uninstalled OSS 3D.

No, it's not Firewire, I moved the library to my desktop and added one song to it. I also reinstalled from the downloaded installer. My original install was through Software Update. Still crashes.

OSS 3D? Why that does come up in the crash log ... let me try... hold on...
Yes, that fixed it thanks. I can play now. However, what is disabled now without OSS 3D in the iTunes package?

Just the simulated surround from 2 speakers thing. Nothing important.
