Re: Where would you relocate to

Sorrento, Italy.

It's across the bay from Naples, and provides the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen in my life. I want to go back there again soon (soon=4 years).

The only place i can think of is South Lake Tahoe. I use to spend entire summers there growing up. I have a lot of fond memories of it. Yes, i've been back since, and it IS just like going home again.

Santa Monica's nice, too.

Lake Tahoe is an amazing place. I've only been there in the winter, visiting my dad's old friend. But apart from being an amazing area, there's great skiing there, and there's also beaches. Couldn't think of many better places. Maybe Vancouver or New Zealand.

Or maybe Amsterdam.

The USA is supposed to be about freedom, but for the last few years, I feel more and more persecuted for my religious, political, and personal choice beliefs.

I used to want to go to an island; but Survivor, Castaway, and Lost have kinda took the edge off that idea.

In no specific order:
Australia or New Zealand (never been)
France (been)
Spain (been)
Amsterdam (never been)

And I don't think the opening question was bothering with costs or paperwork, just where you'd go. Let's presume that you have $10M, they'll let you in anywhere with that sort of bankroll.

I would tend to agree... but somewhat of local, so I'm biased smile

That said, I'm going to need to side with Truckee / North lake. Living around Heavenly or casinos would slowly drive me insane.

I grew up near there. Beautiful country. We'd spend our summers kayaking up and down the river. Not sure whatever possessed me to move to New York City of all places, but I'm not sure what I'd do for a living if I moved back.

Otherwise, I'd love to live in Buenos Aires, Argentina for a year or two. I just got back from Costa Rica, and it was beautiful too.

Nope.  For baseball I'm a Padres fan (seen 'em play at both Qualcomm Stadium and Petco Park), no real preference for the NFL.

Re: Where would you relocate to

Knoxville, TN.

It's where my nearest relatives (excluding wife and son) live, it's closer to my wife's brother, it's a beautiful place populated by beautiful, friendly people (for the most part).

After having lived here in Vegas for about five years we've discovered that we really miss seasons, green vegetation, large backyards with few walls betwixt them, neighbors that you actually have an opportunity to get to know.  Plus, the cost of living is lower, gas is cheaper, there are fewer Southern Californians (though migrant Michiganders on I-75 are another problem altogether), the school system is better, et cetera, et cetera.

Oh, yeah...  I forgot to add that once I get out of school we are moving back there.

South Lake rules! I am completely in love with living in San Francisco, but if I were going to move, I'd want to be somewhere where I could snowboard every day. As of now, I rent a house in South Lake from January to April and get up there every weekend.

Then again, Hawaii would be great, too, assuming I could find a great job and semiaffordable rent. I hear that can be tough out there. But I adored everything about it when i visited. i'll stick around here (SF) for as long as I can. Been here three years and the "OMG I can't believe I live here" glow hasn't worn off one bit.

[Orion, I'm from Northern WI originally and i couldn't agree more that the UP should be ours. I grew up a mile from the border, and when I meet people from Michigan and tell them that I lived there, so often they have no clue what i'm talking about. Uh, Upper Michigan? The other half of your state? Hello?]

The Island, AKA Vancouver Island.  It's like here in the Greater Vancouver area, but much less populated and with a slower pace of life.  The west coast of BC is the most beautiful place in the world, bar none.
