I dunno -- I think the combined riff on the Command-key glyph and the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation slogan is kind of cute. Whether we want people to associate Macs with Advanced Tea Substitute is another matter, of course.

I guess thats the answer to the question connected to the questionmark in the quoted post. Hmmm January 8th. I guess that means that MacAddict is warped to infinity after the december issue and comes back on the 8th of january in a new shape...
Now, where in the name of... did I put that thing that I forgot what it was and why I was looking for it?

"The Mac magazine that changes all the rules"
Is there anything to back up this claim?
I still believe in liberalism today as much as I ever did, but, oh, there was a happy time when I believed in liberals.

is that what that is supposed to be? I thought is was just a pretty flower that they had thrown on the end of their name to fancy it up a bit. I guess it's not as bad as I first thought then.

I hope for the best but feel compelled to comment on the extreme blandness of the name. MacAddict has a certain energy and attitude implied. MacLife? Not so much.
I wonder how much buying the maclife.com from the guys who already own it will cost.
I agree too... "Mac Life" sounds extremely bland to me too... and a bit too straight for my taste. I've been a subscriber for years now... I'll wait to see the direction the magazine is taking but I really don't like the new name.

I'll read the first few issues, as my subscription ends next December. If it vastly improves the content and spirit of the mag then I'll keep it even if I think the new title sucks. If it is just the same old stuff, I'm out. The mag has become a Macworld clone and I dropped Macworld long ago. I don't need to know about Photoshop, Shake, Bryce, etc as I am not in video or print. I want a mag that was like the original Macaddicts. I want to know how to hack my computers beyond their stated potential. I want expert hacks for the operating system and programs. I want tips and advice on internet apps and searches. Sadly, Macaddict no longer provides this on a regular basis for me. I don't hate Macaddict for changing, its just that I don't need what you are providing. I am not a new user, and most of your mag is now devoted to those people. If I want Mac news, I can get it online the day something is announced. I have to wait at least a month or more for you to have anything in your mag due to the delay involved in printing and publishing a mag.
Its been a swell ten years, but I fear I will be bidding a fond farewell in the next year.
Yep.... I'm in the same situation.

WE HAVE A HOMEPAGE?!
Spirit was crushed; now is fading, But I want to help make things right.
Because I can see and I can feel, and you can see and you can feel
So why don't we both either stand up and fight
Or at least together we'll call it a night.

Re: MacAddict changing name to MacLife?
Congratulations to Rik Myslewski, Editor in Chief, MacAddict for your promotion to Media Producer for MacLife.com. Your interview with Chuck Joiner on MacVoices #680 dated 10-29-06 was a pleasure. I look forward to the announcement of the new Editor in Chief for MacLife magazine. Care to share any hints as to the identity?

I have one little concern : my subscription to MacAddict will expire June 1 2008.
1-Will I subscribe automatically to MacLife ?
2-If I hate the magazine as much as the new name, can I get a refund ?

I sort of got the same worries. I just recently managed (you wouldn't believe the troubles I've had) to renew my subscription so that I get my first issue in december and the last one in november 2008. This should guarantie a gapfree subscription but since the mag is changing its name it worries me a tiny bit. Though reading this relaxes me a little bit.
If you’re not currently a MacAddict subscriber (or if your subscription is about to expire) use this form to reserve your FREE copy of Mac|Life’s premier issue...

A great promotion would be to give all MAF forum members a free subscription.

Ehrm! With over 25000 registered members and about $29,95 per one year subscription (US-subprice only counted for), such a gesture would much likely, however nice it might seem, ruin the magazine since it'd total around $750'000
Need I say it's in the red ?

I think 10,000 is a better number
