Applecare for an iPod?

Is it worth it?

I've always gotten Applecare for my computers, and it's always paid for itself, although I haven't needed it yet for my 11 mo old iMac. The iPod warranty is for only 2 years, but it does say specifically that the battery is covered for 2 years as well. Is the battery such an issue anymore? Also, the little graph on the web site implies that there is 90 days of phone support with the regular warranty, but in fact it is limited to one free phone call within the 90 days.

So has anyone had any experience with it? Wished they'd gotten it? Gotten it, but never used it?

I wish i'd had it for my 3g when the hard drive failed.

In my opinion. Apple Care is a necessity with iPods, or anything portable for that matter. You may be putting a little extra money out, but you'll wish you had it if something happens.

I think you meant to say "...when something happens."

Re: Applecare for an iPod?

I love Applecare. My 4G ipod's hard drive had the heads collided with the platters a couple of months ago. I went into the Apple Store in Pentagon City, and I had a brand new 4G iPod within 15 minutes. The only question he asked was, "What sound does it make?"

iMac: 500MHz G3, headless mod, 20GB main, 60GB media, 320MB RAM, Tiger (server)
MacBook Pro: 2.5GHz C2D, 250GB (160 for OS X, 60 for Vista, 15 for Ubuntu), 4GB RAM, Leopard (main)
20GB 4G iPod, Apple OS
