to be continued...

I normally don't watch a lot of primetime TV, but lately I started watching Lost and Heroes.

I been following the last 4 or 5 weeks of their respective current seasons and I think I've had enough with everything being tagged with "too be continued" at the end.

That's not to say I have a problem with stories that carry over from week to week. However, these damn shows seem to take months to get anywhere. Ugh.

Re: to be continued...

I recently read an article either in the paper or in TV Guide that the powers that be are trying to get away from shows that require a weekly commitment from viewers. You can only have so many of those and people will only commit to a few of them. They said people are starting to go back to those shows that you can just turn on anytime.

I've found even the regular shows that don't carry over often refer back to something that happened in an earlier episode, and if you don't watch every week, you miss out.

As for any show i watch that has 'to be continued' at the end ... well, i pretty much tivo everything i watch, so i'll watch 2 or 3 parters all at once.

Re: to be continued...

What I don't like about them is that the episodes are all so connected that I would have to acquire all the previous shows if I wanted to get into the show.

Yeah, I usually don't get around to watching those shows until someone brings me the dvd's and says, "Oh man, you gotta watch this show! It's so good!"

Re: to be continued...

There's little reason to watch a show that has an ongoing story line if the network is going to cancel it shortly.  I personally have no problem with lots of ongoing story line shows, but those shows have to be good for me to actually watch.

Re: to be continued...

This is what was great about Firefly... there was enough exposition that if someone just wanted to jump in and watch an episode, they could, but for someone watching all the way through, they'd pick up on details and character relations that would be a reward for sticking around since the beginning.

Though it's not the best example since it's episodes were aired out of order, but ideally, this is how it'd unfold.

To be continued. What a scam. I'm still waiting to find out who shot J.R.

A better example of that is Farscape.

Or actually alot of Sci-fi shows.
Take Stargate, they have the ongoing conflicts, with the individual conflicts in most episodes, if the ongoing conflict is expanded upon in an episode, a decent explanitory summary will be provided before the episode.

I look upon these "to be continued"  as a chance to exercise my powers of deduction.

Re: to be continued...

The only "to be continued..." show that has yet to irritate me is the new Battlestar Galactica. However they've seemingly gotten someplace after and hour or two.

On the other hand, Lost has had three people in cages for a month with little payoff.

Re: to be continued...

You can always go here and watch a show you missed.  TvLinks   They have many shows, not all I guess, but a good choice.  Quality is usually pretty good, depending on who posted the show. They have tv shows, cartoons and anime smile
