Playing Audio Books on MP3 from the Library
Throughout Kansas, and other states too, Windows users can checkout audio e-books on mp3 that use the MS WMP DRM. A couple of problems: 1) you have to to use a specific application (OverDrive Media Console, with no Mac version) for downloading the file, and 2) it use the Windows DRM so even on Windows you have to use Microsoft Media Player v. 9 or above.
All this means no iPods or Mac welcome.
Now, I know that I can buy a $50 copy of Harry Potter on the iTMS, but I'd really rather borrow for free. Any suggestions? Anyone know how to borrow/rent an audio book title that is compatable with a Mac (both downloading and playing)? Alternatively, any ideas on how to use a WMA compatible MP3 player and a Mac to download and play these books?
I spend an hour and a half driving every day, and really want something other than NPR or my CD's to listen to.
If you can't say something nice, say it in Yiddish.
