Re: Corona

I don't know how much truth there is to this but. . .

I also bartended for a good many years and time after time I was told that the Corona factory is pretty much buttedd right up against a Mexican prison. And that they employ prisoners to make thier beer. A great many people didn't trust this manufacturing process. True or not I myself have tended to stay away from it.

Then again I drink a good many blue cans with Lite on the side. As long as they are cold, who cares after three anyhow?

Re: Corona

Lime does help cover up a stale beer. A fresh beer that is sexually canoerrific doesn't particularly benefit from it in any way though.

Re: Corona

And back we go to the old joke.

Took my bottle of beer in to a labratory and had it analyzed. The report came back with this line. "You have diabettes."

I hope they spelled diabetes correctly on the report.  Otherwise I'd guess it came from the "brewery" from whence Corona comes.

Beer snobs can't afford to be wine snobs.  But what of us wine, cognac and cigar snobs?

If anyone is a fellow member of the last group, I cannot recommend enough Ashton Estate Sun Grown.  Mmmmmmmm...  There is nothing better to go with a 40-year-old Port or Grenache, or a snifter-full of Louis XIII.

I hate that they always stick lemons on ice tea glasses.

I usually take them off and throw them on the floor.

Good to see you posting again! No, i haven't. In fact, i've never heard of it? I'll keep an eye out for it.

I have tried Dos Equis and didn't really care for it, for those that recommended that.

google just taught me that corona and modelo are made by the same people....

http://www.gmodelo.com.mx/eng/marcas/modeloesp.html

i've never tried modelo light, negra modelo and modelo especial are the only beers i buy lately. except for the negra they are all pilsners, like corona.

they are very popular around here.

I picked up a six pack. Who knew they sold it at Target. big_smile It isn't bad and it's something i would definitely drink again, but i think between that and Corona, i prefer Corona.

Re: Corona

Corona is gross.  I used to drink Bud quite a bit when I was in the Marines, but now I don't drink at all which is probably a good thing because I'm only 20 and shouldn't be doing that anyways.

Oh, I thought you meant Smith Corona. I've always liked the look of those flat top crimson beauties(portable typewriters).-circa-1940s-nice.

The only time I had a Corona was when I won a basket of liquor at a Christmas Raffle some years ago. The Corona was in there, along with Schnappes, other stuff and (ugh)sherry.  I remember it as good tasting, though get this, it had an unpleasant odor to it(Gross). Of course I drank it, it was a prize & I had never won anything before! & me and my liver are still good friends.

I prefer Pabst Blue Ribbon-it's cheap and decent tasting-no odor.  And Orson Welles recommended it-is he still dead?

Re: Corona

Light hurts beer. Corona comes in a clear bottle. How smart is that?

So does Frank Booth.

Re: Corona

Generally speaking, you should avoid beer that comes in a clear bottle. Like Isaly said, light causes beer to go bad, and the only way beers like Corona prevent this is by using all sorts of strange chemical preservatives.

Re: Corona

The Corona 12 pack comes in a complete box, no light exposure until you push in the little flaps for the hand holes.
The 6 pack carrier has deep pockets, so that only the top inch or two of the bottle is exposed, not the beer.

Miller comes in clear bottles. Anybody have a problem with Miller?

Or is it just that I have functioning taste buds?  If it's the former, it's an albatross I will gladly bear.  Nonetheless...

[paraphrasing] I just can't imagine why I ever liked MGD.  So I drink Corona.  I wouldn't drink Budweiser if it were free.  So I drink Corona. [/paraphrasing]

shrug

Quite the conundrum, isn't it?
