Converting
Alright, I'm tired of holding off.
As I might've already shared, I recently switched. When school started, I bought my first Mac (MacBook, 1.83GHz, 1GB). With switching, though, comes the need to replace software. For me, that software is games.
I've been holding off, waiting until money is less of an issue before re-investing in Halo (for Mac this time), but I've decided that if I wait longer, I'll just never do it. So, has anyone seen any good deals on Halo for Mac lately? Amazon has it for no less than ~$25, which seems silly. eBay has a few listings I'm watching, too. Are there any good online stores you kids can recommend me to that might have it for cheaper than $20?
Oh, and for anyone who's interested, I also went ahead and nabbed UT2k4 for Mac; it arrived in the mail yesterday. However, Gears of War will probably take up most of my time for the next few weeks.

Re: Converting
I'll keep an eye out, but I don't remember seeing HaloPC for much less than the usual $20. Wal-Mart still has it on-shelf; over 3 years straight. Gotta be a record; and I've a feeling that Halo PC will be bundled on DVD with H2V so it may well continue unless Xmas brings a brief hiatus... List for Mac is still $30 AFAIK, so much better than Amazon's price seems unlikely short of eBay or a garage sale. GoGamer, $29.90 (just checked)...
I guess this is inevitable (PC gone? Can't remember if you've mentioned), but the timing seems ironic, given the possibly terminal decline of native AAA OSX gaming... in any case, check out IMG's "Hands On with the Halo Universal Binary" (author is forum friend Quicksilver- doesn't know quite as much Halo as a rare few [*koff*]
), but no dummy either:
Macsoft does have several problems that do not exist in Halo 1.5.2 and therefore need fixing. First and foremost, in my journey through the single-player campaign on my heavily upgraded G5, I noticed problems ranging from Elites stuck with their heads in walls to bizarre audio artifacts. While I can shrug those issues off, having an older version of Halo to fall back on, Intel users will be far less pleased. Worse, I found that if you can click the mouse faster than your weapon can fire, the gun will occasionally continue to fire until it reaches the number of times you clicked. To put this in more practical terms, if you pull the trigger ten times, and in that interval, the Covenant Plasma Pistol only fires five shots, the gun should quit firing on the fifth shot. In Halo 2.0, the pistol will occasionally fire five more times without any user intervention. The negative consequences for multiplayer lovers should be obvious.
MacBook? Pro pleeeeez... the UB apparently still isn't up to PC spec on graphics, but you need the dedicated graphics chip to get even those shaders. (Levi, LAN party soon so Icks can bring Mac Halo for me to eyeball carefully at last). At least the 360 is there for the AAA stuff, albeit pricier than PC (Mac games always cost more & for longer, too, as you know). Hope to see you on GoW soon too, tho I'll at least tool around MA3 again as soon as that demonically-delayed upgrade is done. Last PC gaming I did was UT2004, back around Feb.
Got a feeling I'm forgetting something, may post again later.

Re: Converting
I still have my PC; it won't disappear until after the spring semester starts (when I'll get another huge influx of money for the Mac Pro). And yeah, I know Halo Mac will not be worth playing at all on the MacBook; if Levi throws another LAN party I'd bring the PC and Kira and her MacBook Pro (unless it happens once I've got my Mac Pro).
I suppose I wouldn't have to pick up a copy of Halo Mac; I could use Boot Camp with no problems. *shrug* That might be best.

I am, tho, having fun imagining you firing many random pistolo shots in all directions. (Or the SPNKr, or FRG...
)
Kirtana might be less pleased, tho. Rampancy ensueth?

Re: Converting
Since I'm finally really on Live, it's finally time for that 3 hour tour of the MP maps (Containment!)- before or after some GoW, natch, li'l buddy. ::cascade of coconuts::
Problem there is it looks like the control scheme will take a deal of getting used to- Halo it's not.
(Wount'cha know, I finally get hooked up, and H2 time evaporates because of GoW. At least some of us can play together again).

Re: Converting
Yeah, jumped into co op with Icky a week or so back in GoW. And Icks, judging from your avatar, you heard that Portals will be released for 360 as well?
that which does not kill me only postpones the inevitable.

It is?.. not to answer for him, but he's had that for some time.

Re: Converting
Eventually it is, yeah. What with the push-backs on Episode 2, it won't be any time soon, but yeah, the HL2 pack that's reportedly coming to 360 will include the content from Episode 1 & 2, which means it should include Portals.
