Rush and iMac

Was listening to talk radio yesterday and imagine my surprise when I hear Rush and some Kid talking about Macs and how great they are, Rush said he had Mac Pro, I thought it was kinda cool. Gotta love the free advertising !

It's ok, supergoo. I heard it, too, and I also thought it was sweet.

And I like Rush. toadkiller, if you've never made a mistake in your life, go ahead and bash, but if you're human (which I'm sure you are)... shut up.

Re: Rush and iMac

musicalmac,

Making a mistake is one thing, but carrying on for 20 years with the same mistakes over and over is quite another. Rush is not a mistake... he's a pigheaded a-hole. You can take his conservative crap for what it is, but his comments about Donovan McNabb and Michael J. Fox, not to mention his hypocritical stance on drug abusers add up to Big Fat Jerk.  And Big and Fat is not a mistake either. He's a big fat idiot... and he didn't just try drugs... and make a mistake.  He kept on keepin' on... and got off pretty much scott free.  Hypocrite... fat... idiot.

Re: Rush and iMac

Ok, I know you think he's a big, fat idiot. What I also know is your facts may be somewhat distorted. Do you know what he really said about Michael J. Fox? Something tells me you don't. I can't say much about his stance on drugs because I'm not totally sure what he said vs what happened. What I do know is that he hada problem, and perhaps he said things that would be hypocritical. What do you expect him to say? "Get addicted to sleeping pills people."

Think.

Re: Rush and iMac

My wife heard his show a few months ago when he got his Mac Pro.  I didn't hear it, but she told me he went on for a few minutes about how great Macs - some real nice, free PR.  Drag-addicts, hypochrites, presidential gropers, pot smokers, conservatives, liberals  --->  We can all be united by a nice shiney new Mac.

If I recall, Apple does all it can to tell Rush to not promote Apple as much as possible.

Re: Rush and iMac

An edorsement that we really don't need. I also wonder how The Pretenders feel about their Ohio song being used as Rush's theme music... Cringe.

Based on the findings of the report, my conclusion was that this idea was not a practical deterrent for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious.

What he said about Donovan McNabb was true though.
Before anyone comments, look up the actual quote.

Indeed. And Warren Moon said as much in his Hall of Fame inductee speech earlier this year.

The Pretenders love it.  So does Apple.  Money talks in this capitalistic free market.  The Pretenders will license their music to anyone willing to  pay the bill.  Apple will take the free publicity - they want both conservatives and liberals to buy their products - just like any company.  Political differences are fine in government, but in business, if you want to buy or promote my product, I don't gave a damn what your political persuasion is.

You won't see them pimping computers anytime soon.  They are three of the most private celebrities out there.  Well, except when Alex is punching bouncers in Florida bars big_smile

I can't imagine them being anything  but mac users.

Re: Rush and iMac

I'm sure Rush Limbaugh's plug for Apple's hardware would be great if 99% of the world valued the intellect of moronic and or hypocritical pundits. Considering that's not the case, knowledge of Rush's Mac love is best left inside, and only inside, the bubble of his demographic.

Tech advise from a blowhard like Limbaugh is like getting fashion advise at a retirement home. Of those that actually heed the advise, given the credibility of the source, most are going to assume you should probably do the exact opposite of the aforementioned recommendation.

Makes sense.  Probably why you would rarely see a political type used as a spokesman for any products.  Selling a product is not the time to polarize your customers with political overtones.

Is Al Gore still on the Apple board, BTW?  That made my wife question Apple's future leadership when she heard it a few years ago, but she is the polarized type.  I may fall on the opposite side of many issues with Gore, but I am capable of separating a person's ability to lead a company and manage a business from their political affiliations.

Unless of course, they are a communist or facist or something.....big_smile

Now your stooping.  His hypocritical actions are bad enough  on their own - do you have to drop it down a notch like that and ruin your own credibility?
