Should I play again?
Well, today I saw my friend on his Rogue, tearing up in WSG and AV. It's been about 3 months since I stopped playing, because I was feeling pretty burnt out from raiding.
So, I had memories of my Rogue: level 56 Human on Bleeding Hollow named Zangulus. I also had a 60 Warrior (my first character) that served as one of my guild's main tanks (this is what caused the burnout, scheduling mainly). I never got bored with my Rogue, leveling and the PVP I have done was a blast (and instance groups were always totally fun, being top on damage) but my obligations to my guild to be there tanking on my main kept me from playing him as much as I would have liked.
Anyways, apparently my long-time guild is broken up as of very recently. So... if I were to start playing again, I could just Rogue it up as much as I wanted.
I just plan on getting to 60, doing some PVP (getting a GM weapon, trying to get the epic PVP gear)... I have no plans for expansion. Getting to 70 and staying on top of things in WoW would take too much time; all I'm looking for is PVP and maybe some pugging of UBRS, ZG, MC etc. on occasion to break up the monotony. I'm thinking of maybe getting a three-month subscription...
Anywho, if you were in my shoes, and weren't looking to actively raid or participate in the TBC content, just PVP, do some modest pugging (maybe some very limited raiding), socialize with RL friends and former guildies... would you spring the 40-some-odd bucks? I'm trying to convince myself not to bother playing again, but the pull is pretty damn strong!
TIA

Re: Should I play again?
Well just get yourself a gamecard and try it out for a bit again. Wouldn't hurt. Doesn't take long to get a 56 up to 60. Maybe a few days tops if you stay out of UBRS.
Doubt you'll find much for 60s come BC. Never know tho. One thing that sucks is they upped the exp required for 61+ to over 400k instead of 209k+ in the regular game. Would take time to grind to 70 from 60. Heck it would take horrible time from 1-70. Kinda hoping they either have a bunch of new 20 mans or make lvl 70 drops for a heroic version of the ones we got now. I still got folks that want to do ZG/AQ more than the 40s.

I started playing again. Made it to 58 with ease, have about 8500 honor and the 20 AB marks for the GM Dirk. Glad I came back, it's good times.

Re: Should I play again?
Rumor has it that it will take as long to get from 60 to 70 as it took to get from 1 to 60. Hopefully we all have some great WoW friends that will all be wanting to level together. I have always kinda leveled solo in the past but now that I'm part of a great guild, we'll be working together to level up and explore all the new content.
My first toon took almost 25 days to reach 60 but my second only took 14 days. So no one's gonna be hitting 70 right off the bat (unless you have a bedpan and an endless supply of Hotpockets).

Re: Should I play again?
60-70 shouldn't take as you as long as 1-60. 62-63 took me about 8 hours.. and a lot of that was still just sight-seeing and messing around.
1-60 took me about 15 days of playtime, 60-70 should take about 4 or 5 days of playtime at that pace, since it will slow up at the end.

Re: Should I play again?
Took me about 20 days on my main cause I screwed around in UBRS before 60. My pally did 60 in only 12 days cause I went straight to Strat from BRD instead of messing with UBRS/LBRS. Varies a lot on what you do and it helps if you have high lvl pals to get you into stuff thats still high for you, but I dont think 70 will take as long as 1-60.

I'm gonna start levelling my druid when I get back, hopefully she'll be 60 in time for the expansion. I'm going to be using a speed-levelling guide, see how long it takes me to get from 30-60.

Re: Should I play again?
My first druid took about 22 days /played to get to 60.
My second druid (level 50 now) is at a little over 6 days /played.
I used the awesome speed leveling guide that is in my head now that I've leveled almost 6 characters to 60.
60-70 didn't take much time at all, it was fun and interesting seeing the new stuff, don't even sweat it. The thing that will suck is having 90% of your server waiting for the quest chain ending named mob to respawn for the millionth time.

Re: Should I play again?
From what I understand, the XP gain in Beta server is increased.

Re: Should I play again?
I haven't actually *tested* it, but I don't believe the XP rate is different.
A couple pushes ago they upped the amount of XP needed per level, and a big part of testing is seeing if there are enough quests to get you from 60-70 without needing to do significant grinding. All that testing would be totally thrown out the window if the XP rate was different than it will be when it goes live.

Re: Should I play again?
The beta test is to test the content, now how long it takes to get to 70…

Re: Should I play again?
Beta test serves to test both the leveling curve, the zones, the mobs the content everything about the game in a prerelease state. As far as leveling goes, they didn't adjust the amount of xp gained, but drastically cut the amount of xp needed to level up with the last few major patches. Previously to go from 69 to 70 it required just about 1.15 million xp, now its down to about 865 thousand. They've deffinately rebalanced some of the xp equasions per level, in a downward fashion. Which, in my opinion is a good thing.

Darn. I was hoping it would take a few months to get to 70 too.
