Do you like your boss?
For the most part, mine's ok. He's a better person than he is a boss, though. My biggest peeve with him is that he'll chastise people in public for something they've done wrong, instead of doing it privately.

Re: Do you like your boss?
My bosses are okay - we had a single boss, but she was transferred. Of the two I have left, one is kind of nuts, and is under a lot of family stress. The other is just kind of nutso, but he is also pretty good at his job.
They're both nice enough people.

She brings her personal problems to work? I could never work for someone like that, and she shouldn't be a boss if she does.

No. Neither the head honcho, the department head, nor the random ass who has named himself "supervisor" have done anything worthy of respect. I am currently saving up FU money and searching for new employment.

She likes to share, and one of the front counter slaves is renting a room in her house, so there's that.
Given that, when your boss leaves early to drive her son to the hospital, well, you find out why.
And I know WAAAY the smurf more about her last gynocelogical exam than I needed to. Then again, that's the kind of working environment we have.
I'm the quiet one.

Re: Do you like your boss?
My boss, she's great! The best boss I've ever had. Very flexible and will bend the rules for those of us who are good at what we do.
One example was when I used an hour sick time for a doctors appointment (or however long it takes as we are permitted to do). My appointment ran a 1/2 over and so I ended up back at work 45 minutes later than expected. Once back I went in to her office and told her so she could adjust the time used accordingly. My boss said, "Don't worry about it!" This wasn't the first time she did something similar to this.
If you take care of her she takes very good care of you.

I have a great boss, even though he has a lot to take care as the Area manager that includes 2 retail stores, a snack bar, a gas station, vending, maintenance, housing and a control freak of a assistant retail director!!

Re: Do you like your boss?
Immediate boss -- nice guy, very nice to me, though not a spectacular leader.
Next guy up -- very quiet, supportive, lets me do my own thing (which I like very much).
Next guy up (and most important guy) -- likes me a lot and very supportive, which encourages me to excel.
Head honcha -- doesn't know me, nor I her.
All in all -- yes.

Re: Do you like your boss?
My boss is an interesting character to say the least, but overall I like him very much.
He's very eccentric and unpredictable, which can be difficult at times, but he likes me and the the results I bring to the table so he treats me very well. He's very lenient with my work schedule (lets me work from home 90%), and let's me get anything I need hardware/software-wise.
The only thing that bugs me is his tendancy to change his mind about large portions of a project several times after I've 'finished' it. But I can handle that, it's my job.

My boss is a great wall between me and the president. She can be really smurfing weird and a she gets a bit too gossipy at times, but I don't know what I'd do without her.

I once had a boss I really liked. Well, technically, she wasn't my boss, but my field manager, meaning she had to "sell" me to prospective customers. That sure was weird.
I should give her a call sometime...

Re: Do you like your boss?
I am my own boss.
I hate that bastard!! He frequently makes me work through lunch, and he never pays me.
I can NEVER call in sick. It would go something like this:
"Hi, I can't come to work today because I'm sick."
"smurf you! You're hung-over again, aren't you? Get your ass in here!"
I'll get him one day!

Re: Do you like your boss?
I have mixed feelings about my boss. He's nice but he's stuck in the 70's taste-wise, particularly music (Top 40 no less). He likes me a little too much, but he's pretty flexible about my schedule within reason, if I decide to take a day off and my work is caught up, he's okay with it. It helps that I'm efficient, and I wouldn't ask if we had heavy workload coming up.
I know he's just being nice, but for instance, he greets me in the morning by saying; "And how's my Cindy-girl, this morning?" I find it mildly belittling, like I'm on a par with his dog. From his 70s POV, I'm sure he thinks of it as a term of endearment. It irritaes me though. He calls lunch "lunch-a-bunch", stuff like that. It's a bit surreal.
This is my first job with a real boss, so I guess I could do worse.

I definitely don't want to encourage him, he'd seriously think I was being endearing back. I'd prefer a bit more professionalism in that area, but I realize it must sound funny to someone else.
He can also spend 20 minutes explaining something that really only needs about 2.

I liked my old boss better, but the new one is fine.

Re: Do you like your boss?
between both jobs I have a "few" bosses
Some are really nice, some are ok and some I can live without.
I just try to do my job as they request and keep out of trouble thus keeping them away from me
