First mac in the home was a 512k "fat mac" complete with a second floppy drive and an ImageWriter printer.
First mac that was truly mine was a 233MHz Beige G3.

First was a Mac Plus. Then...
IIsi
Centris 610
Power Mac 7200/120
iBook G3 500
iBook G4 800
PowerBook G4 12" 1GHz
iMac G5 2.0 GHz
Those have just been my primary machines. I also have/have owned numerous other iMacs, Blue G3 towers, 5200s, Quadra 630s, an 8500, a 9500, a Beige G3 desktop, an LC III, Performa 6400, Power Mac 5500 (with TV tuner!), PowerBook 170, Duo 230 with Dock II, Power Mac 6100, and probably a few more here and there.

Re: What was your first Mac???
First Mac experience: 1st Grade, Macintosh Performa 5200CD (I think...memory's a little hazy back then. Need to defrag my brain)
First Mac owned: Macintosh SE Superdrive, 7th grade
First Mac regularly used: iBook G3 "icebook", 9th grade
I did use those Apple IIe's like everyone else, though. Wavy Navy was pretty fun =P

Re: What was your first Mac???
My first Mac was a Starmax. My mom got it for the family in 1996, give or take a year or two. I can't remember very well, as I was six years old at the time. I've been a Mac user ever since.

Same here res... My first was a thrift store 512k with the second drive, ImageWriter and a bunch of software. I think I paid $10 for it. It had a bad flyback transformer on the analog board and I found another board on eBay for $5. That board was bad also, but just some bad solder joints that I fixed. But in the meantime, on the Bay, I had found a IIx and an adapter for my PC monitor. It was my first functional Mac at the house. I was never as excited as when I got it online
Of course, the sickness never ended. I have way too many old Macs....

Re: What was your first Mac???
I have yet to see anyone say their first Mac was a non-Apple computer, so here goes:
My first Mac was a PowerComputing PowerCenter Pro 210 in 1997. Three months after I bought it, Apple bought out PowerComputing.
My first Apple Mac was a IIsi I found in a thrift shop, and my first new Apple Mac was a Power Macintosh G4/400 AGP. I bought that one new in June 2000, and I just sold in in January 2006, after having upgraded everything in it. I've had dozens of Macs in between (mostly hobby machines rescued from thrift shops and whatnot).

My first Mac was a free, used IIci. My first new Mac was a B&W G3 in '99, then a TiBook, and now an iSight iMac. I gave back the IIci, which is still being used, but it's changed hands several times.

Return to Zork, Warcraft II, Escape Velocity, SimCity 2000.

Eh, you had to install and maintain drivers for everything. I hated maintaining those things when I was a system admin in college. When they worked, they worked; but when you updated the OS, get ready for extension conflicts and waiting around for 3rd party drivers to be updated.
IMHO you might as well just opt for Windows if that's your bag.

Re: What was your first Mac???
The first Mac I owned was the Macintosh II running at a whopping 16Mhz on a Motorola 68020. This unit had 6 NuBus slots (talk about expandable).
Apple History wrote:
Introduced in March 1987, The Mac II was the ultimate expandable Mac. Based on the new 68020 processor, the Mac II was the first 32-bit Mac (although it was not "32-bit clean). The Mac II included 6 Nubus slots, which allowed for a number of different Apple and Third Part expansion cards. The Mac II was the first Mac with color capabilities--a graphics card could be installed capable of handling up to 16.7 million colors! It originally sold for $3,898 for the basic system, and at $5,498 for 1 MB of RAM, one 800K floppy disk drive and one 40 MB internal SCSI hard disk drive.
That was a time when I nevr would have thought Macs would eventually be using Intel processors.

12" ibook G3 800. I remember being so excited walking out of the apple store with that white box. The feeling came over me again when I walked out of the apple store with a bigger white box (20" imac core duo).

Re: What was your first Mac???
I'd been playing with Macs for years and fell in love with them in the graphics lab in college, but I didn't have my own Mac until I got my B&W G3 350 in 1999. Fresh out of college and broke as hell, I paid for it with an insurance payout after some idiot stole my old Compaq laptop that was really only good for emailing and faxing resumes. Thanks, whoever you are, but I wish you hadn't also taken my 12-string.
That same G3 is now my web server.

Re: What was your first Mac???
My first Mac was a Strawberry iMac G3 that my girlfriend traded her drumset for. This was after she had gotten a KeyLime iBook SE and had been running on factory install when i had been reinstalling Windows 98 every 3-6 months for 1 1/2 years and got jealous of her. What a sweetie she is! That iMac got several years of loving use from me before I sold it to a friend after we got our G4 MDD DP.

I forgot to add that I also owned a mac SE, although it was not my first. I picked it up at a garage sale for like $20. It was an SE/30.
I agree those were awesome designs and the machines themselves were built like little tanks.
No kidding. A friend of mine bought a SE/30 in '89. As of 2002, its clock battery, rated only for six years, was still keeping the time. She still uses it for word processing and low-key stuff.
My first Mac was a Classic. i loved it, having worked on Macs for years before that. I finally gave it away to my nephew...and still regret it.
I have had a IIsi, a Power Mac 6500 and now a PowerBook "Lombard."

First Mac experience '88, Mac Plus.
First Mac purchased '89, Mac Plus, 2.5 MB RAM, 30 meg external SCSI HD.
A year after that I got a used SE-30, added a video card in the PDS slot, connected it to an 14" external monitor and my first color Mac.
Anyone remember the "Pathways into Darkness" game?

Based on the findings of the report, my conclusion was that this idea was not a practical deterrent for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious.
