See through clothes and other embarassing moments
If you see someone that has something in their teeth or hanging out of their nose, do you tell them? How about the person that has the toilet paper hanging out of their pants? The woman whose clothes you can see through?
I actually get tired of telling a few coworkers that they need to blow their nose or wash their face. It just always seems to be a problem with them. Especially the stuff hanging out of their noses. 3 of my coworkers just have a real problem keeping their noses clean. One can't keep his food off of his work smock. One woman has come out of the bathroom with her smock tucked into the back of her pants. Several times.
A couple of times i've told strangers (women) that the clothes they were wearing were see through, or that if they bent over in that particular dress, you could see pretty much everything down to the thighs. Neither of them had any idea. One of them was a clerk in a store and kept bending over the counter to do things and had no idea you could see her boobs and then some.
I've never come across anyone that was upset that i told them. They're usually thankful and wonder why no one else said anything.

Re: See through clothes and other embarassing moments
It depends, justine. I have told other men that the zipper was down. I don't know about telling a woman that they have revealing clothing on. It might come across as sexual harassment from a man, unless I knew them very well. On the other hand they might have intended on dressing that way.

The women i told i was pretty sure had no idea just how revealing their clothes were. If it looks like they don't care if the world sees their bits, then i don't bother.

Though, as a male, I like being able to look at bits.

Re: See through clothes and other embarassing moments
I would say I usually tell my friends, but strangers I don't say anything to. I think it would be too awkward. I also appreciate it when people help me not look so embarrassing by pointing out things. Embarrassing at the time, but better to get it taken care of than having a booger hanging around all day... hahaha.
The other thing that really annoys me (but isn't particularly embarrassing) is when tags are sticking up on the back of your shirt.

A polite point at your own teeth, or buttons or downwards can be appreciated by the exposed parties. I have told complete strangers that they have gaping shirts or open flies because I silently pass judgement on them like we all do and if we find fault we usually like to point it out. Where is miss manners at any way?

Re: See through clothes and other embarassing moments
Life in the working world has taught me one thing-- leave your sense of humor at home. In today's lawsuit-happy environment, it can only get you in trouble. You're bound to offend someone with thin skin. If you're trying to win friends, do it outside of work. The people at work are likely to be backstabbing jerks who'll pretend they're offended.
I think it's just as true of spotting "wardrobe malfunctions" and hygiene errors. You can't get sued or reprimanded for pretending not to notice. Sad but true. Avoid lawsuits for "emotional trauma". Keep your mouth shut and be a good little robot.

I find that before you all go out on stage is a great time to tell her that her bra strap is showing.
Assuming it is, of course.

I'd tell a friend.
A stranger, or out in public, I laugh to myself and presume that they have a friend who will tell them.

I was walking through the mall one day and happened to see two teenage girls walking toward me. One of them was wearing a crop top and button fly jeans.....that were not buttoned. When I tried to tell her, she laughed and kept on walking. Can you say "sl**"?

this is exactly why I wouldn't bother to tell a stranger. How do I know that the HO look isn't the desired effect

Well, i wouldn't bother with kids either. They (most teens) know what's going on with their appearance. I doubt older ladies or men dress that way on purpose, especially if they're working.

Re: See through clothes and other embarassing moments
I'll tell my friends, but I will let most people go without saying anything. Unless they are sitting beside me on a plane or across from me at a meeting or something. There's nothing worse than having to sit next to someone with lunch stuck in their teeth.
So, I basically bring it to someone's attention if it benefits me.

There was a band I saw once, all grrls, and one of the band members, to sort of demonstrate something about boys being able to go to shows and get sweaty and take off their shirts without any problem (or something), took off her shirt (no bra, of course), and here's the goofy thing, actually glared and was angry that guys looked at her boobs thereafter. It was like she displayed her irritation and then was mad people noticed. Anyway this thread made me remember that. Should I have helpfully called out "your mammaries are showing!!"?

No, but I hope you didn't actually pay to see anybody that dumb.

Re: See through clothes and other embarassing moments
When my bank account was always fat (never less than $5,000 in checking even at end of month) - the tellers seemed to lean and show their cleavage more. Now that it is more lean, I'm lucky to get a smile from them. Seriously. Have no idea if it was intentional or subconscious.
I think it is funny though to watch guys trying to get a peek down a womans dress. It's hilarious to watch. Especially when they are at the store with their wives and trying not to get caught peeking by either the chick behind the counter or their wife.
I think some girls have caught on and like the attention - others I think are just completely clueless.
The only time I ever mentioned it - a young girl (maybe 21) at a doctors office. She had a half shirt - the kind that shows a lor of midriff. She was down on her hands and knees playing with her kid, and from behind her, her boobs were very visible. Several people were taking advantage of the peep show. I informed the person (female) behind the desk who informed her, and she turned bright red and sat up on a chair.
