Thoughts on CrossOver
So, I think I'm unfortunately going to finally have to install some sort of emulation software on my Macbook. I've obviously heard good things about Parallels, but the idea of CrossOver seems much more appealing to me. Unfortunately I've not met many people who have used it. I'd be using it almost exclusively for IE 6/7, anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks,

Re: Thoughts on CrossOver
First, Crossover is not an emulator. It's a partial port of the Windows API for Unix OS's. The operative word is "partial" so a lot of stuff won't run properly, if at all. However, since it's not an emulator, the speed of the compatible apps is limited only by the quality of the API implementation, but generally you'll get performance on par with Windows; 3D performance is a notable exception.
Paralles, on the other hand, is an emulator, so it'll run pretty much anything that doesn't require 3D acceleration, but the performance might be slightly less.

Re: Thoughts on CrossOver
If you are going to use Crossover to run only one windows app(and if CrossOver really supports it) then I think it will be the best option for you. But the problem about Crossover is that it's difficult to run unsupported programs(the number of those is still large). For me parallels is much better to use. Or Boot Camp at least.

He knows about parallels already.
Based on their users, IE6 runs pretty well but no go for IE7.
1. Instill fear.
2. ???????? (use your imagination)
3. Profit!

I know that, I just wanted to say that for me CrossOver turned out to be useless, because a lot of apps is not yet in the support list. That's why I use Parallels
