Re: RIP CompUSA
They are closing our local store also. Been there a few times, though one has to 'know' what you want and what price is considered good. They offer the various discounts, 10-30% off items. But only after raising all the prices to list or above. In the end you pay either more or equal to what it would cost at Best Buy or online.

Re: RIP CompUSA
Son of a...they are closing all the stores around me. This sucks. All I got otherwise is a PCclub store with a measily inventory and Apple stores at insane distances away. I don't want to drive 30 mins to an hour just to get to a store. Yeah most items I buy now are online but still sometimes I like to stop in. Heck my local CompUSA has always been decent. Bought 2 Macs thru it and a lot of other goodies. As others have noted, it was nice that CompUSA didn't always use mail-in-rebates crap. I could sometimes get items at Newegg prices without having to put my trust in criminal Fedex drivers.
Getting bad in this area. Lot of stores going out. Having to drive distances to get anything. Just last month we lost our local Albertsons after the auto center developing by it, bought out the greedy owners. Still got a Staters nearby and all but when one place carries different inventory than others, its a pain having to drive farther to find what you want. lol really this is suppost to be California. We got stores all over the place. But now this area is starting to feel more like some backwater country town. Only difference is here we got drive bys and porno shops on every corner.
Oh well farewell CompUSA. Goodbye to the memories of walking in and helping sell Macs better than their own employees could
. I think i'll relish that one. Moron didn't even know anything without reading a label.
