Not logging in very often the last few months (under my XBL profile, anyhow), I found out something a bit surprising. Apparently it's because H2 is an Xbox 1 game, but that kind of message has to be answered while actually online, in-game. Both Macmenace and clan head muede (a month or more apart) sent me a clan invite and 'howdy' message respectively, and in both cases they nearly (or did) expire before I logged in to Halo 2, found 'em and could respond. Muede's was just a night or two ago and had about 10 minutes before expiring. There are a couple of other differences; e.g. in H2 you can't suspend the game and exit to the Dashboard without killing the game. In GoW you can. 
(Reminds me, I should log on briefly and see if today's scheduled GoW Update has been rolled out yet. It hadn't been as of early this AM).
When I get a few more minutes I'll see if I can figure out how to send you a clan invite. Btw, that clan technically has a lot of members, whether or not many are currently active. Lonnng member list.
(Edit- oh, yeah, messages expire in 30 days. Maybe you got one and it ran out? MM had to send me a second invite).

I can pop on today and send another one. Yeah, the back compat. games really lack the new dashboard abilities of Xbox 360 games so it can get rather annoying. Also, the clan is still going strong. Muede still plays quite often with many of the "pros" like the occasional Ogres and some PMS members, but this week he is on vacation without his box.
Edit: Somehow after the H2 XBL last reset I was made a Peon?? Which shouldn't be possible because I was an Overlord. Thus, I can't send out clan invites now but once Muede is back from vacation I will be able to.

Yeah, all of Halo 2's messages are handled within the games "unique" message system.

I have just about all the MAers that have 360s as friends. A clan invite would be cool but not needed.

Do you all remember when we organized that clan meetup in Halo - Mac on some holiday? We just ended up doing a stupid race mode around that big island map. Good times... good times.

Sure. Great fun, and I probably have a passel o' screens waiting for me to have time to find them. The big Halo fileserver is down, but maybe I can find or take someone up on alternate hosting, if/when I've time (still waiting on Icks to post the two I sent him months ago).

We could always try to prearrange something, like our old Events. I toured the maps a coupla months ago, tooled around a bit, but not enough to give me an edge over a n00b. But it's all about fun anyway at our level.

Definitely maybe, but I'll need a few days to a week or so before I know if meat life is easing up enough.

Looks bad for me. Friday I found out I wouldn't after all get the promising new drug the doc promised to prescribe, and Saturday morning my 360 started to melt down with bad visual artifacting. Rebooting gave a temp cure, but I'm pretty sure I'm between one boot and one week from the RRoD- again. I just might get great new internals out of the repair, but I'll also be off XBL a month or so more. Sorry.
H2V will be here soon for me now that I'll be using any 360 play time to finish the PC upgrade, but that's as close as I'll come before H3 arrives.

Worse. Before it could RRoD out, it killed the HDD, with all unique saves and freebies. Didn't get the upgrade finished fast enough to network with it and back those up.
Calling 'em soon. They better take it back and send me one with a Falcon mobo and what-not-all.
