Killed my edit to allow me to quit the Finder (without it re-launching).

oh, well. It still looks not as nice without the mask.
They're basically a set of icons from the Apple website.

Is it just me, or does the eject key now require that one hold it down for about half a second?

Ok, so I'm not crazy. My iMac did seem slower than my MacBook (10.4.8).

Re: 10.4.9
So is this update still causing problems for macbooks and other types of macs? I'm scared to install it on my macbook because of this horror story that I read on the wired Cult of Mac blog. It seems like some people here have been having problems and I've read about a few other problems elsewhere.

Re: 10.4.9
Erm, I made the mistake of downloading the update. It doesn't play nice with Pro Tools, which is the whole reason for this computer to be. So, how do I revert back to 10.4.8?
Alright, now, who wants to be transistorized?

Re: 10.4.9
revert back to 10.4.8? You can't. Do you have a backup of your 10.4.8 state? That's the only way to do it.
If you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

Wha? that's crappity. There's thing number 1 I don't like about macs. No way to roll back.

I actually like this: you wouldn't believe how many times I've accidentally pressed the eject button on my MacBook Pro instead of delete.

That is a change in 10.4.9, so you don't accidentally press the eject button.

And how exactly would you roll back to a previous update on windows?

There is a feature called "restore points". Was SOOOOOO useful for when I was beta-testing Vista (dumb drivers).
Thanks for clicking.

Re: 10.4.9
It seems every time there is a 10.x.9, it's always a serious problem for about a month, especially with apps like Pro Tools, which is why I stay away from the update until the latest possible reason to install it.
If you look around the table and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you.

Re: 10.4.9
Quicktime has flaked out on me twice since this update. Both times after it was open for awhile it became non-responsive, in that you would double click for a movie to play and nothing happened. Both times this happened it was on my Intel Mac. That has NEVER happened to me before.

That's pretty nifty.
Looks like I won't be updating any time soon, not that it really would make any difference anyway.

1. Restart from System Disc (or Tiger disc, if system didn't ship with Tiger).
2. When you get to the part where you select the drive to install onto, click the "Options..." button at the bottom of the window.
3. Select "Archive & Install" and "Save user settings"
4. Reinstall Mac OS X 10.4.whatevershippedwithyourmac.
5. Go to Apple's Support: Downloads page.
6. Find the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Updater & download it.
7. Install 10.4.8 update.

Re: 10.4.9
When I hovered over Adium my iMac hard crashed today. Could move the mouse, my print job finished, but it wouldn't do anything. It went to sleep and then wouldn't wake up. A restart solved all but still, not nice. 10.4.9?
