BB will probably use Boot Camp to put Vista on their display machines.

The beauty of putting it in a cronjob - you start it after you've left.

Well if its the Pasadena store then I can agree. But if its the Rancho Cucamonga Apple store, i'd rather take my chances with inept CompUSA/Best Buy employees. keep in mind how excited you would be if you had to deal with orange county people all day buying computers.  my roommate has worked at a couple apple stores around here and has some interesting battle stories.  definitely a different breed of people around here...

Funny, I've never had anything but good experiences at the Rancho Store. 4 out of my 5 Mac's, my airport, my iPod and a good helping of the games my daughter plays came from there.

they depo'd my 1st gen iMac with the capacitor issue and had it back to me in 3 days, half the quoted estimate.

Different experiences for different people I guess,...

I like to give local businesses my business when possible - even if it is owned by a Chinese corporation. It creates jobs for local people who need them.

Re: Best Buy is gonna sell Macs in 2007

The other issue to keep in mind is will they carry Mac programs? I have been at a Big Box store before and was surprised to see them selling Macs. Then I went looking to see what software they had. Practically nothing, maybe 10 items.

It seemed to me an attempt to sabotage their own sales; if you can't get programs for your computer, what's the point? It screams "Buy the computer from us (big $$) but get lost if you want the smaller ticket stuff". Someone in management was trying hard to make sure Mac sales would be crap.

is there a reason to buy apple products at a best buy rather than an apple store?  are they going to undercut apple's prices or something?  it just seems like there are apple stores everywhere and personally I would rather buy straight from apple.

Other than not wanting to drive 70+ miles to get to an Apple store, I cant think of a reason someone would go to a Best Buy over an Apple Store. Of course personally I might go 70 miles out of the way to get a Mac itself, but not for something like a mouse or router or the like.

'Round here, you can find an Apple store five minutes in any direction.

Figures. Apple puts lots of stores on the moon, but down here, they are far and few between.

Re: Best Buy is gonna sell Macs in 2007

Best Buy is much closer to me than the nearest Apple Store, which is about 40 miles away. I'd love to see an Apple Store in my city, but I wouldn't complain if Best Buy started featuring Macs in-store. big_smile

There's a few big clusters in the US - a couple in California, and one giant one in the northeast.  Otherwise, your chances of finding an Apple Store in your area are pretty slim.

Now Geek Squad will be even WORSE with tech support. If they can't focus on getting windows machines working right, what makes them think they can handle macs AND windows. Then again, macs don't really need maitenence and troubleshooting, end even switching to a mac requires no assistance.

I really hope they aren't so i can go fxck with them big_smile. I'd never do that at the Apple store cus i know its pointless. I know they'll fix it very soon or just reboot and it gets fixed with Deep Freeze. But for Best Buy, it would be a nice way to let out my anger at them for their stupidity. And then I'd probably also be doing Apple a small favor by making BB order new display comps. (Or put out other comps up for display, which would still result in them having to restock faster)

No, you would simply be acting immature.  You also would not be "helping" Apple.  Having display machines unoperative does not lend itself to a good pre-sale experience.
