I think I've got an idea for the whole college and Leopard conundrum

I just want to know what my peers think of this.

1) I bring down my old graphite 700 MHz iMac to college
2) I wait until October for Leopard and a new computer
3) Turn my iMac into a server or at least something that holds files
4) Win at life?

One thing to keep in mind is that the quarter of my school (UCLA) starts very late - September 24th. I think I am sure I can hold off until October to buy a new computer, but at the same time I find it really frustrating whenever one of my parents messes up whatever I'm doing on the computer that I am using at the moment (G5 iMac, not the graphite iMac), so I am really tempted to buy a MacBook for myself when the Santa Rosa chips come with the MacBooks.

Tell me what you think! Like? Dislike?

You'll have enough room for two computers AND a reason for a server?

I would just buy the damn laptop if you need a laptop. Leopard is not going to be that earth shattering. Having Leopard installed is not going to get your homework done any faster or introduce you to pretty girls on facebook.

I might have just enough room for another computer, but even then I guess it wouldn't really justify having two computers down at once.

And I guess as for the Leopard waiting dealy, I guess I wouldn't need all the supposed cool new features. I think at most, I will only be chatting, using Word, and nothing else really.

Thanks for the input!

Does UCLA give fully qualified domain names for your computer? If so, a server can be pretty neat...

try registering facebook.ucla.edu...bound to get some hits (I did that at my school, but they weren't to happy).

I have been asked to remove my infamous Avatar by a moderator, and I shall reluctantly comply.

Rest in peace, my friend.
