I'm not sure if this will help...it works for me and it doesn't cost much.
I click the reload button and the flash ad goes away.

Ironic that the Shure ad keeps popping up in front of everything while I read this.

Re: Stupid unclosable flash advertisements
I read this thread and kind of ignored it, but then today found that this banner ad for Discover Card at the top of my MyYahoo page. (my homepage) It blocks a sizable part of the page if you scroll over it and has no close button. So annoying. I'm so close to switching to Gmail.
These ads are so obnoxious that I don't think they will last.
I believe in Karma. That means I can do bad things to people all day long and I assume they deserve it.

Hell, I hate flash ads that have any type of pop-out effect. Such as that f'ing "Shure" ad on this forum.

Interesting. I decided to give FF a shot at being my primary browser. I moved all my bookmarks over from Safari. FF just seems so much faster than Safari. However, now i'm getting these smurfing ads, too, and it's probably going to be a dealbreaker as far using this for a primary browser.

I use NoScript to block the bad stuff. Works great.
Patience is a virtue of the weak for it makes them stand still long enough for the strong to crush them with ease.

I avoid the Internet whenever possible.
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.
Unless you become as little children, there's no way you will believe this crap.

Can you post a screen-shot of the desktop only? I think that one was part of my 300+ collection.
Thanks for clicking.

Flashblock.
Conner, I don't think they are listening. I use it on my Mac at home. I was having a fit at work with Yahoo Mail and their ads... then I remembered... Flashblock!

Re: Stupid unclosable flash advertisements
NoScript works great for me on my PC at work, for some reason it seems to bog down my mac at home. Also works great for crappy Intellitext ads.
