Trying to change Team Info
I PM'd Vijay requesting a suggestion on how we can get our team information changed if we can't get a hold of the person who established it. Here is his response:
here's the tricky thing -- can you think of a way to handle this
1) in an automated way (we have >10,000 teams and can't handle requests one by one)
2) in a way which does not allow others to mess with your team info?
It appears that Vijay is saying, "No, because we'd have to do it for everyone." I've replied back asking for clarification.
Was Resedit the team founder?

Re: Trying to change Team Info
Hi,
No, it was Derek Carillo who started it. Yours truely discussed with him for a proper name, and we ended up with MacAddict4Life ("borrowed" from a person who had folded under that name but was no longer folding) as the best and coolest name. He registered it and started folding. As no Mac version was available, it took a while before I entered. Back in those days, I ranked second.... .
Hope you liked the history.
Bye for now,
Bert

Re: Trying to change Team Info
HELLO, DEREK!
If you started the team, you can change the information, right?
Please do so if you are able.
The Team Thanks You.

Re: Trying to change Team Info
Derek has a link to his homepage in his profile, I followed it and got his email addy from there.
He probably checks his email more frequently than he checks these forums. Even if he doesn't, I'm now sending him a PM (for both this forum and the Folding-Community forums).

Bah! You are more likely to get an Audience with the Pope than get Derek to:-
A: Look at his email.
B: Actually Reply to one.
:-)
However, I spoke to him about the incorrect URL on the folding@home website, shortly after he set me up on my computer with the folding@home software.
He said he was only resonsible for the old Gnome website?
The best way to communicate with Derek is to:-
A: Call him at work.
B: Send a blonde round with a message. ;-)
Anyhow, I'm seeing him tonight, so I'll tell him he is being mentioned in dispatches.

Thank's Mike, He does peek in here from time to time.

hrmmm?
Resedit and I built the new website...but I was pretty sure it was it was Derek who had "Team Authority" at the Stanford Website, and was the one who had changed it when Res was hosting it at home....but then again maybe I'm wrong and Res had that distinction?
They made it easy

Thanks for your help Mike

Re: Trying to change Team Info
I have tried a few times to update the info on the Stanford site, BUT the email address I used was one I had on .mac and now that is closed after apple made it a paid for service.
The error I get is that the Password is incorrect.
The only option is to have the password sent to you're email address (Now closed).
I will have another go on Thursday.
I would have changed the details long ago had I been able to.
Derek. who like most people do not write down password as it defeats the point of security that's my get out and I am sticking to it.

I did look after the Genome site, until my .mac account was killed of by apple, no one genomes under the Macaddict team anymore after it was made public that no Mac client was to be made.
Just to make it easy for me Tony, could you post the web site link (to be sure) and the link to the team logo.

The answer from Vijay is "No" they cannot help us change the team information manually.

Re: Trying to change Team Info
Well maybe Derek will remember the combination of e-mail and password to make it work?
Oh well we can only do what we can do....if that's not a "Yogi-ism" I don't know what is!

Re: Trying to change Team Info
I am sure I entered in every possible mix of passwords and email accounts still no joy.
I will keep trying, but I do feel that the database may be at fault.

Re: Trying to change Team Info
.mac may not let you rerigister under an old name it may give you "that user name is already in use".
