"Transformers: The Sequel."

It could happen.

Talking with Entertainment Weekly recently, director Michael Bay was briefly questioned about sequel possibilities and what he's doing next. Here's an excerpt:

How are you sitting with the idea of directing another Transformers movie?

Let's see how this one does. I've got a lot of ideas for the next one. There's a lot of really cool, big robot stuff that I had in my head that we didn't do. [..]

I doubt that. hmm

What's wrong? I thought the movie was teh awesome. Besides, if they make a sequel, they don't have to bother with that whole introduction thing; they can jump straight to the good stuff. (compare spidermans 1 and 2)

I haven't seen it. From other sources and his record so far, this one didn't seem too promising, but I'll take your good notice into account. Who knew?

I liked it.  Reviews were pretty good, and it did well at the box office if I recall?

Re: Game movie craptacularity continues, intensifies

Ever get the feeling these Intarwebz times are getting a mite out of hand?.. Hey! You over there! I don't like your tie.

Postal Director Launches New York Post Parody Web Site

Thiz Biz.GameDaily story reports that Postal director Uwe Boll has launched a parody web site of the taboid newspaper The New York Post on the movie's official web site. Boll took issue with the Post's negative story of the upcoming movie (based on the Running With Scissors action game series), which includes a sequence where a plane crashes into a building. The Post showed that sequence to survivors of the 9/11 attacks on New York and feels the movie should not be shown in theaters. Uwe said that the Post has passed judgement on the movie without seeing it and that the sequence is taken out of context, adding, "The scene is a parody of fundamentalist fanatics. We don't make fun of the victims of 9/11." The movie will be released in about 500 to 600 theaters this October. The Post has theatened legal action against Boll if he doesn't take his parody site down.

I hate to say it, but he's doing lots of (relatively) smart things with this movie. It's a real-life version of the Producers. Except he hasn't sung yet, and I think he won't go to jail if this succeeds.

Boll 'Tunnels' Into Game Business

The filmmaker that so many gamers love to hate is now getting involved in making games, not just game-based movies. Boll, who recently filmed a Vietnam war movie called Tunnel Rats, is partnering with Replay Studios to create a game based on the film. Details inside...

VANCOUVER--After years of taking video games like House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Dungeon Siege, Postal and Far Cry to the big screen, writer/director/producer Uwe Boll is now taking a property in the opposite direction, GameDaily BIZ can exclusively reveal. Boll filmed Tunnel Rats, an original Vietnam war movie set in 1967, earlier this year in South Africa. He's financing a new first-person shooter based on the film, which German developer Replay Studios is currently creating using its internal Replay Engine most recently seen at E3 in the new WWII game Sabotage at Gamecock's Hotel California suite. Tunnel Rats will ship for Xbox 360 and PC.

"Tunnel Rats is a first-person shooter set during the Vietnam War that tells the story of a young G.I. who escapes from a POW camp and journeys through a heavily fortified valley in the Cu Chi province," said Marc Moehring Managing Director and Co-Founder, Replay Studios. "It not only depicts his actual physical path through the merciless jungle and claustrophobic, trap-ridden tunnels, but also his emotional and psychological journey as the horrors he witnesses--and participates in--slowly deprive him of his ideals, morals and sanity."

I want to see a Robert Rodriguez directed Max Payne flick. He'd be perfect.

I second that motion

And I loved Max Payne 1 and 2.  There's a reason Rockstar did the second one.  And the plot wasn't "blah."  It was just classic Noir.  Though the Area 51 stuff in the first one was kinda odd.  But when most of my friends drool over perfect dark (which to me was and always will be crap) I had Max Payne.

Though after watching the trailer, the guy playing the one face they showed isn't very convincing.  Why not make a movie that includes all the storyline from the first two games?  I mean total they add up to what 45 minutes tops of story?  That leaves 45 minutes for new stuff if you want to keep it short.  Plus who doesn't want to see Vladamir?

Is there word yet though if the Halo movie will be live action or not?  I would say it might be best to keep it CG and go all out, especially since most of what the MC does would require superman as stuntman.  I'm thinking we lock Pixar, Rodriguez, and Jackson in a room until its done.

As for transformers

PerfectDark would've been a killer app if it was released for the GameCube, but timing was all off and it wasn't meant to be.

With all the fun stuff going you hit about 15fps on split screen four player on Perfect Dark even with expanded memory. For some reason I still know people who find this to be acceptable.

Re: Game movie craptacularity continues, intensifies

yeah my old roommates still play perfect dark multiplayer split screen.  (n64 version).  And it's ok, but as everyone knows it's just goldeneye.  And at the time PC FPS was way ahead, so it was more of "this is awesome" to anyone now into PC gaming.  But I was more referring to the single player since max payne has no multiplayer heh, though it would be interesting if they could.  Just remove bullet time and let people go nuts.  If rockstar put out like a five dollar online add-on with a few bigger versions of the deadman maps I'd buy it.  Hell with some of the "movie" themed mods I can play deadman for hours (que Trip Like I Do) ahhh good times.

Better than Doom?.. that'll be tough.

Warcraft Movie: First Concept Art, 2009 Release, Better than "Doom"
Aug 04, 2007 3:08pm CST

Blizzard and its filmic partner Legendary Pictures today revealed a few more details of their upcoming live-action movie based on the Warcraft franchise.
Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull described the movie as "big," with a budget of over $100 million. "We're not gonna make some cheesy little.. I don't even know what a good example is," he said. Shouts of "Doom" erupted from the crowd. "I'm not gonna give any examples," Tull said after a laugh.

"We're shooting for 2009," Tull added, before handing the stage over to Blizzard creative director Chris Metzen, who immediately began to outline the direction of the project.

"Honestly, the story that we're running with at this point, we wanted it to be relevant to the experience of WoW players," Metzen said. "Not necessarily buried in thousands of years of continuity. We wanted it to be, well, recent. The story takes place about a year before WoW begins. You're likely to see a lot of races you've played, the lands you know. The story really is a number of main plot points kind of rolled into a really strong two, two and a half hour tale."

In terms of specifics, Metzen revealed that there will be a new central hero character, that he described as "pretty bad ass."

Ooh.

@ Bat's quote --

pretty bad ass?  They claimed the whole "mysterious" thing they were working on for this winter was something "Really" cool, when it's just another WoW expansion that doesn't add anything people have been asking for since before BC.

And I'd say the Horde side stories are much more interesting.  What do we have for alliance?  Crazy old wizard opens dark portal, people die fight back get trapped on other side, enslave orcs, orcs escape, plague comes, people turn to zombies, prince goes crazy, kills zombies and people, becomes zombie-like.

But enough on that, "better than Doom?"  Cmon, the original mario brothers movie was better than Doom.

Maybe you'll get your wish. There may be an opening.

Michael Bay Throws a Fit Over Paramount, HD DVD Exclusivity

Yesterday, Paramount and DreamWorks made an announcement that shook the tech community -- just when everyone was getting used to the idea that Blu-ray was gaining considerable traction in the high definition format war. The two companies decided to reverse their support for both HD DVD and Blu-ray in exchange for exclusive support for the former.

The news sparked quite a stir from both sides of the aisle. Supporters of the HD DVD standard declared that the move meant that the war is still on. Blu-ray supporters on the other hand saw the move as nothing more than a multi-million dollar payoff for Paramount and DreamWorks.

One high-profile member of the film community decided to make his feeling known about the decision to go HD DVD only. Michael Bay -- known for action blockbusters like "Bad Boys" and "The Rock" as well as critical disappointments like "Pearl Harbor" and "The Island" -- expressed outrage after hearing that "Transformers" would become an HD DVD exclusive title upon its release for high definition players.

"I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me," exclaimed Bay on his official site.

So... wait: he's inarticulate, you don't like his movies, and his plots don't work.

But he's a good director?

Personally, I think he's kinda dumb. I think you might agree with me, but you're too busy being good, nice, wholesome, and charitable.

Cut it out. wink

like the cinematography and effects are great is all I'm saying, at least better than most of what I see, and he's not bad at editing.

Which is sad in many ways that he is above the average, though no where near 300, Hot Fuzz caliber

I think he can really handle straight-up action movies (ie, the last 1/3 of this film), but Transformers was a little too dialogue heavy for his style.

I hope he still makes the next one, to a degree. Co-direction?

What's sad is that he's neither cinematographer, nor editor, nor FX guy. He's a former director of commercials and music videos.

That that's also common these days is even sadder.
