C programming
I'm getting no response over in Command Line Intercourse so I thought I'd try here.
"So I have to refresh myself in C because I have another class this upcoming semester. I open up Codewarrior (4.2.5) to start making some simple programs and every time I hit run it just crashes. Even with a helloworld program. Any ideas what's going on or another compiler I can use? I don't know where my developer tools are right now, though I could install python. Is python compatible with C language? Thanks"
Basically I just need to be able to write and compile C on my macbook. Running 10.4.9
I'm going to look for my Developer Tools disc, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas. Thanks again

Re: C programming
Was Codewarrior ever ported to x86?
if its running in Rosetta, its pretty obvious why you are getting crashes.
download xcode from the apple developer's connection if you can't find the disc.
Python is already installed. Its syntax is different from C, and it does not use a compiler.
seriously, install Xcode. Its the only way to put gcc on your mac.

A more descriptive thread title might've helped.

Don't I have to register as a developer or am I not seeing where to download Xcode? I saw where to get MPW but that's claiming my "system" does not support the MPW application.

Re: C programming
Xcode should be on your 10.4 install disks.

Re: C programming
It's not on a seperate disc anymore? That explains why I can't find it, last time I installed developer tools was with a panther set. I'm at my parent's house for summer break and he only has a tiger set here, I took all the older stuff with me for my iMac and 12" powerbook.
Seemed kind of a mean move for motorola to discontinue Codewarrior for mac at 4.0 >.<
Back to the crashing of codewarrior. I did have it running fine in 10.3, and it opens as a said fine, the only time it crashes is when I tell it to actually run and compile at which point it instantly crashes. Is there really that much difference between the operating systems?
How about a third side note?
Am I the only one of the people I knew at the time of joining the MA forums that hasn't been made a mod yet? Just something I've noticed.
