Stupid clients: Help!

Ok. After installing the audio update I clicked restart, but, as usual (because of F@H), the logout part hanged. So, I had to manually shut down the computer. Unfortunately, InCrease refuses to work now, even after being replaced, so I switched back to the F@H thing for Intel Macs. Unfortunately, that is also refusing to work (which was why I was using InCrease). I did  applejack auto and zapped the pram, no dice.

So, How do I completely uninstall F@H, as that is what I believe is the problem?

Thanks for clicking.

Re: Stupid clients: Help!

you could be having trouble because the SMP client that is available on FAH's website expired, I'm trying to get the new beta 5 client to work but it refuses to start, I'll post about it if I ever figure out whats wrong shrug

Re: Stupid clients: Help!

Got it:
1. Download both the installer and the Console versions of the latest SMP client.
2. Run the installer.
3. Move the Folding@Home app from the root of your hard drive to the Applications folder.
4. Control or right-click the app and select "show contents".
5. Delete Fah5 and mpiexec
6. Extract the console version, and place Fah5 inside the Folding@Home app.
7. Create a folder called Folding@Home in the library of the account you installed F@H into, and place the Console mpiexec file into it.
8. Start F@H from the PreferencePane

Re: Stupid clients: Help!

Hokay, I went back to the FAH website to download the software, and they pulled the smp prefpane version, so I guess they are fixing it now shrug

78% so far, working fine.
Though you could use the beta4 from Pure_mac.com.

I would keep an eye on wether those WUs get finished in time, the FAH guys say you should only run one client at a time because SMP WUs have a shorter due date shrug

Completely removed it, had to restart while the files were in the trash because they kept on restarting, lost all work, but now it is going at top speed. sad

Re: Stupid clients: Help!

I am about to receive my new Aluminum 24" iMac w/2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme. I'm currently running an older console client on a PM G4/1.4GHz. How is the new client Beta5? going. Is that the one I should download to the new iMac? Will it stay running when logged out, but iMac still running. Will it restart by itself when rebooting?

Thanks for any info.

Re: Stupid clients: Help!

I've heard few negative comments so far from Team members.  FuturDreamz had a bump in the road but is back on track.

Based on the statistical output of some members whose output jumped, I surmise that they installed new equipment.   Obviously either got a Playstation or a Windows PC running the Graphics Processor client or an Intel Mac.

Here's a Folding section for Intel Macs that I'm reviewing  http://forum.folding-community.org/view … ted_id=f56
