Installing Xubuntu on iMac with Mac OS 9.6: Help!
How do I install Xubuntu onto my old mac using the alternate inst in low RAM mode whil keeping Mac OS 9 in a diffrent partition?

You'll need to reformat your drive into at least 2 partitions first. Then install OS 8.6 and Ubuntu on each partition.
