Slack off in school kids
It pays off. Big time.
I'm graduating a semester late. In 8th-9th grade i spent 75% of my time playing Counterstrike and online golf and pool games. Needless to stay I dropped behind. Some of you may be wondering how I was able to play counterstrike and such. I go to a project based charter school. It is up to me to educate myself. I must be responsible for myself and self sufficient. So I can play video games if I want to. It will just bite me in the ass later and it did. I got behind in credits (hours of worked logged).
So now I am finishing up my credits and my senior project. For my senior project I was going to get an Internship at the local Video Studio/News Station KEYC. They suck ASS but an internship is an internship. Even though I had a great interview they never called back.
I still needed an internship. I gave Two Fish a ringy ding. I was hired that day. The interview was more of a 2 hour chat about film and music. I loved it.
Since then I've worked on a music video, recorded and edited a live band performance, shot a commercial, and now I'm going on to editing a documentary.
The best part of all of this. Soon I am going to receive a paid position.
Ah man, this has been a great summer.

Heh. I slacked off all of High School. I had really high test scores but my homework and classwork were so low I'd have that I graduated with a C+ Average. What ever. I'm still going to college.

Re: Slack off in school kids
I slacked off in high school. Played video games all the time. Didn't even apply to any colleges until January of my senior year of high school (5 or so months before the end of the school year). I came out of high school with a 3.6-8 GPA and a terrible work ethic.
But now in college I work my ass off, I got a pretty sweet well-paying internship this summer, and I've lost any semblance of the kid I once was.

I did basically the same but put out enough effort to keep a 3.0 gpa (scholarship reasons). After getting a 1500 something on the SATs and getting into the college I wanted to go to early app I basically gave up on school. Only problem was I was so rusty after not having to exert myself mentally or work hard in over 2 years that when I got to school I struggled long and hard to scrape by with a 3.05
...but hey, what do I know

Re: Slack off in school kids
I'm taking fifteen credits instead of the eighteen I was originally thinking of. That's all the slacking I can manage.

I'm considering adding a second (math) minor to my studies. Slacking off doesn't really pay off if you want to end up with anything more than a Bachelor's diploma for your education.

Re: Slack off in school kids
I will point out that I was a terrible slacker in high school. I think part of that relates to me being bored by some of my classes. I still graduated with a 3.4 GPA though I think.

Yes, I'm actually still there. Were you a student once?
