powerbook 170 boot problems
I recently found my old powerbook 170 from college and tried to boot it, but it was a no go. I want to play with this as a hobby. Any ideas?

First check your AC adapter to make sure it is providing the correct power to make sure the AC adapter is working correctly. This can be done easily with a multi-tester.

"no go" meaning what? The screen wouldn't turn on, you get the starting "bong" but nothing else, no reaction to the power button being pushed, you get a "dead mac" on the screen, or what? We'll need some more details.

Re: powerbook 170 boot problems
It's the original ac adapter, so I know I'm getting the right power. I press the power button and I get a loud static sound with very a fast blinking screen. Sometimes, thick horizontal lines pass from top to bottom. I hadn't tried to power it on for about 6-7 years, so I'm not expecting much, and from what I've read, that's pretty much what I'll get. Thanks for any ideas.

You might want to open her up and unseat and reseat every thing you can see that can be taken out and put back in. Look for signs of corrosion and clean connectors.
Thats along time just sitting.
I’m not ready to make nice-I’m not ready to back down-I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round-It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could-‘Cause I’m mad as hell-Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
