Show View Options
Is there any way I can change the view options for a folder and make that the default for all finder folders?
In Windows this is the view options>View>Apply to all folders

in theory yes press command - J to bring up the view options, at the top there is an option to apply the changes to "this window only" or "all windows" choose the appropriate option and make your changes.
in my experience this doesn't always work and is very annoying. especially when trying to color coordinate your different volumes. for example my main drive has a white background. on my external I have it partitioned into to volumes one is green for backups the other is pink for osx and my trash is red. this way I can tell instantly what volume I'm in. but of course this doesn't work all the time and I end up with white where the green is supposed to be and pink where it should be white and…

The choice for "This Window Only" and "All Windows" is only available for icon and list views, not column view.
Please Apple, fix the finder for Leopard, I beg of you ...

I had problem with dragging multiple files 
So I switched back to the icon view and its starting to grow on me
