Yes! I believe Jobs will be announcing the long-overdue consumer tower, revised iMacs, OS X on PCs, the acquisition of N, and Leo ahead of schedule.

Re: Apple "Mac" event next Tuesday.
I think it would be marvelous if Leopard was going to be released early. That would probably help jumpstart a few back to school sales. I was really hoping that there would be a new iPod ( read not shuffle or nano) that had a touchscreen or something new. I have waited forever to get an iPod and finally have the money to get one, however I am going to wait till they are released. I don't know what to think about the idea of dropping the 17'' iMac and mac mini unless like everyone else....there is going to be some sort of an upgradable tower. There has to be some sort of entry level mac....maybe its time for the Cube 2.0! Really I just think that the mini needs to be redesigned to have a real graphics card in it. Something that would make me very happy is a new 12" MacBook Pro. I love my C2D one but I really miss my little 12" guy. It was just so portable. However I only want it if I can get the same performance out of it as the preent lappies ( no integrated!) I really have more to say what I would like and why they should make it but I don't want to force ya'll to read all my ramblings

Oh man, finally something related to computers (hopefully hardware). Sheesh, that took a while.

Re: Apple "Mac" event next Tuesday.
I'm wondering if they're going to be updating iPods? My 4th generation from two years ago died last week. The video ones came out two weeks after I bought it, so I don't want to get a new one until after next week so the same thing wont happen again.
I'm also excited to see what the new iMacs look like. I really like the current design, so I'm interested to see where they go from there. Lots of color options would be pretty cool too.

It is said that this event will be a Mac-only event.

I have low expectations.

Hardly surprising. I also won't be surprised if despite your "low expectations", Apple fails to live up to them even if most everyone else end up quite impressed.

I hope I am wrong but all I expect is perhaps an appearance change, some CPU bumps and possibly the confirmation or refutation of the rumor the Mini is dead.

Yeah, sad thing is that it will actually make a lot of people happy.

Re: Apple "Mac" event next Tuesday.
Reasonable expectations Pariah, but some architectural improvements may also possible. I expect that 802.11N will be officially standard across all updated models and bumps in the graphic processors, hard drives & RAM in preparation for Leopard (and the recent gaming focus). It's also possible that if the Mac Pro get updated we may actually see eSATA.
Also remember, we're also supposed to start seeing LED backlit monitors this year. If we see monitors (also possible) they're likely to have them on the smaller units and integrated iSight capability.
Admittedly we won't be seeing all that on Tuesday but it is very reasonable that that sort of technology will start filtering in then.

Re: Apple "Mac" event next Tuesday.
Apple seems to be slinging quite a lot of refurbished everything in the store. I wouldn't be surprised to see speed bumps and or an announcement or release of that new iMac.
[edit: although there's nothing on the clearance page... so I guess the specials mean jack squat]
But yes, also g5 powerbooks, a consumer tower, OS X for generic machines, and a newly revived interest in Mac OS games. And a unicorn.

So no confirmation about the Mini so far?
Anyone think that it will be redesigned?
Thanks for clicking.

Did you totally miss WWDC?
Ohh yes, Cider.
Develop for Mac OS by developing for Windows and relying upon Wine.

If by "redesigned" you mean "dragged out into the street and shot," then yes.
It looks like Apple might let that Mac die off. That's what seems to be floating around the rumormill.

I guess so, as it doesn't fit with Apples model:
| Consumer | Pro | ???
Desktop | iMac | Mac Pro | Mac Mini
Notebook| MacBook | MacBook Pro | ???

Re: Apple "Mac" event next Tuesday.
The gaming comments at WWDC are pointless really......Well unless we actually see an actual desktop with desktop innards that does not start at $2600 with a good GPU.......

Re: Apple "Mac" event next Tuesday.
Admittedly Cider is an imperfect start, but it is finally a start and I seriously doubt Apple would be having the gaming companies up on stage during the actual keynote if they did not actually plan to implement some hardware change to better support gaming within the next year or so. They would instead let the vendor announce it on their own like every other time.
As far as the GPU comment goes, I can only hope some of you hardcore gamers eventually learn the real difference between a bad card, a good card, and a gaming quality card.

I will give that to you, the 256MB 8xxx in the MBP is quite nice, The games I got to see in Windows were almost as fast as my desktop PC (C2D 2.4/7800GT) I searched for a x1900 XTX and 7950GT but they are getting hard to find anymore
But the though of being stuck with it in a desktop (iMac) is not appealing at all video cards how ever ridiculously expensive are far far far cheaper than a new iMac...... even if one only upgrades once every two plus years...... even considering the Apple versions the x1900 BTO from Apple is cheaper than the cheapest iMac
Both Nvidia and ATI are guilty of their DX 10 cards being slower than the last gen cards, well except for the $600 versions.......
