Mac?I think you are right - I didn't even think about that.
I think a new (i)Mac is a definite and the Mini could be axed or "slightly" improved to justify its "lower" price point.
Cosmetically , all Apple has to do with the iMac is cut away that extra plastic at the bottom of the screen, make it even thiner, throw it in aluminum, and maybe even include a wall mount. An included wall mount would be sick.
Sad indeed how low our expectations have sunk.
I remember a day, not so long ago, when speculating about coming new Macs was actually kinda fun and exciting.
Now it's like Oh, ohhh...the new iMac might be 27mm thiner!!.

The plenty of ways to use a VESA mount with a current iMac or most LCD displays. Yet, I don't really see a lot of people using them at home or in the office. They're really only used in public or commercial environments where walls and desks are not practical.

I think the reason they aren't used more is because they cost $300 bucks or more. I would like one to create more space on my desk, but mainly to adjust it to a hight where my two young kids can't get at it.

You bring up an interesting point, but I highly doubt it because MacBooks and Mac Pros and iMacs are all Macs. It would be stupid on Apple's part to have a computer just called "Mac." People wouldn't know which one you were talking about.

Re: Apple "Mac" event next Tuesday.
I'm with Pariah. Big whop if they make it thinner and shinny. I want something cool. Something that makes people go "SWEET" and is outside the box, like (I know it gets brought up every time, but here goes) the G4 iMac. Beautiful, original, and surprisingly functional.
In fact, I'd be entirely pleased if they simply reverted to that design.
But yes, some actual ground-breaking design would be really cool.

I don't see how the old naming scheme is "worse", but instead, see it as better for the mere fact the names are cooler. Why would the names be confusing to the public? They are different computers made by Apple which anyone considering a purchase would know. Jeesh

If the new iMac were to be built like the one shown in the movie that would be amazing. Its very Apple except for the color pattern. That would be changed a bit.

Sorry, some people were arguing that since the new line has such similar names that iMac would be renamed. I was just saying that the line of computers offered by apple has never had a completely united name scheme. Considering the imac is such a trademark computer that has sold very well for apple, I'm doubting they change the name now.

How much does a high quality touch screen in the 17 to 24 inch range cost?
I don't honestly know but all of the touch screens I have used have ever been tiny and monochrome or when they were almost monitor size they looked to be at, at best, 256 colors and quite low resolution.
I have never seen a touch screen with near the display quality one in an iMac would have to have. Sheeesh, I hope thins won't be a a step back in visual quality like the early, butt ugly, blocky looking Apple LCDs like in the G4 iMac.

I'm with you on that. I figured that the term "MacBook" would grow on me and sound normal over time. It hasn't. I hate every time I have to say Macbook. It just sounds dumb to me.
