I like Office, it works well. Word, etc., is slow to launch on Intel but that will be fixed soon.

I use NeoOffice and love it.  If there is something dangerously good about iWork I might buy a copy.

I just loaded a few documents last night, and it's getting better. It's great to have comment and change tracking compatibility with Word. iWork also seems to handle my auto generated tables of contents as well.

That said, it still lacks an outline mode.

I like that, from a student perspective, iWork can now completely replace Office, and it also undercuts the price. Very interesting...

It cannot if you are a business or data heavy quantitative discipline student. I will give Apple credit that they have created a very solid software suite, but I think people might be a bit deluded if they think it can replace Office where it truly matters.

Agreed.
As much as I would love to adopt iWork, it's not there yet. I would cause endless minor compatibility problems for me at work.

I'm sure that it's already set to take advantage of most new technologies in leopard, such as core animation.  I do not see apple including it leopard though.

I've used it for only 30 seconds but what I saw and did was really nice and impressive.

I suspect it probably written using Core Animation and other much cleaner programming tools that exist in Leopard, where the previous version was written using clunkier stuff like Core Image & Video and Tiger's programming tools.
