No matching mice?

I was kind of hoping for a matching mouse to go with the new keyboard.  Especially since the trackball on my Mighty Mouse stopped working in the scroll down direction.  That little trackball is such a poor design in my opinion.  Guess it's time to go buy a new mouse.  hmm

That little trackball is a piece of crap. Even with frequent cleanings with task wipes and canned air, it stops working. This happened with the standard Mighty Mouse and the bluetooth one.

Re: No matching mice?

Get one of those logitech mice with 6 buttons and a scrollwheel.  Those are perfect for exposé and dashboard, and are in general very durable/good.  I love mine.

Re: No matching mice?

Yeah, I was hoping for a new mouse with the intro of the new keyboard too...  I bought a Mighty Mouse, and in theory, I would love the Trackball... however, the ball on the Might Mouse is useless after a little while.  I ended up going back to my old MS Explorer even after Over paying for the Mighty Mouse...

Re: No matching mice?

I love my wired  2 yr old Mighty Mouse, and I love the scroll ball. I usually need to clean it about once a month, and it works like new.

It will be interesting to see how Apple matches a new style to the keyboard, though. This is the first time I can recall that a mouse didn't aesthetically match the keyboard.

Ever since I bought my logitech G5 a few months ago, I'm wondering how I ever used the mighty mouse.
If your looking for a great mouse to go with the imac I think you need look no further then logitech.  One of their black mice might even somewhat match with the black bezel of the imac.

I wouldn't want a mice styled after the keyboard.  That's the cheesiest subpar POS I've seen since the TRS MC-10.  I want a keyboard, not a buttonboard.

Re: No matching mice?

I like it, just have to clean it often. It's a nice mouse and clever, just the ball gets a little dirty a bit too quickly.

I've been using my Mighty Mouse for about 9 months or so and have never had to clean the trackball. My bf has had his for even longer and has never had a problem...

I might be a bit out on the timeframes... I don't remember when the Might Mouse actually shipped.

You do you clean the ball on a Mighty Mouse?

The "hit-able" area of the keys on this keyboard and the MacBook are exactly the same as a standard keyboard...  The spacing of the keys are identical to a standard keyboard...  The only difference is the laptop or "scissor" style of the keys if you compare it to a "standard keyboard"...  Is that your issue with it?  Or are you just really offended by the aesthetics?

And besides, wouldn't a mouse that matches this keyboard just be silver brushed metal instead of plastic?  Do you hate that idea?

Because for the record, I love laptop keyboards, I can type faster on them, whether that is mental or real, I am not sure, but I am thrilled.  Not to mention I think the new keyboard is beautiful...  I haven't touched this one yet, so I'll hold off ultimate judgement until I have, but in theory, this keyboard will be one of my favorites...  And if the mouse looked more like it/slash had updated functionality, I'd be even more excited...

Re: No matching mice?

I find it hard to believe that Apple makes such lousy mice.  I wanted to like the mighty mouse, and thought the scroll ball was a great concept, the real world design feels inferior to a plain old scroll wheel even though it can do more.  Just my opinion.

If you're thinking about getting a Logitech MX Revolution mouse, go to Dealmac.com first and look for a better deal.  $99.99 in Office Depot.  I got it for $49.99 new with free shipping on Amazon (after a rebate).

I haven't received it yet, but my last mouse was a Logitech MX700 and I got years out of it.  When it finally died, I'd worn most of the paint off of where my fingers sat on it.

I'm thinking about pairing the MX Revolution up with the new Apple wireless keyboard.  These old spongey key keyboards are starting to look like relics of the 80s.  The new Apple keyboards really look amazing.  One downside though - I won't be able to toss the wireless keyboard in the dishwasher like I occasionally do with my white Apple keyboard.

No noticeable latency at all. I can't say that I like the drivers. They were annoying to setup. But the mouse is nice.

Re: No matching mice?

I've got the M$ Optical trackball (4 buttons and a "clickable" scrollwheel.  Coupled with the Nostromo n52.

So very, very sweet.

I've also got the Watcom Intuos "Widescreen" tablet that comes with a five button mouse and a pen.

I have never used an Apple mouse for more than five minutes.  It is the first thing to go when  I buy a machine.  I'm still waiting for a bluetooth trackball, though.

Grrr. Flame.. mean words... Horrible thoughts... wink

I get that a lot actually.  I've had people come over that are this side of confused.  But for "whatever" reason, for general use, I like the ball.

Bingo.  For me it's the difference between playing a grand piano or a cheap electronic keyboard.
