DVD-R's immediately ejects upon insert
Hi Folks,
For almost a year I've had a problem where DVD-R's that I stick in my eMac's internal optical drive immediately eject upon inserting them.
Some of the discs that don't work were burned from my own machine, some are from other sources. Some are video discs, some are file backups. Brands that have the issue include Verbatim, Playo, and others.
These SAME discs mount perfectly on another eMac I have in the house and other computers. Blank media always mounts.
Most of the time, DVD-R's work fine.
I'm running the latest version of Tiger on my 1.25 ghz eMac G4.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Very possibly some dust have accumulated on the optics of your drive. This will cause a drive to get wonky and not be able to read some or all disks.
Get one of those cleaning disks with the wiping whisker and use it.

I always assumed the problem was a software one, but I bought a Staples brand cleaning disc, and in 15 seconds it fixed the problem completely.
Thank you, Pariah. you rock!

Yes, you are correct. I do indeed Rock.
Dirty optics is a problem few people consider and I bet a considerable number of drives have been replaced simply because they were dirty.
