Re: Show us where you are on the political compass.

I thought this was funny.
Aside from Kucinich and Gravel, all the current presidential candidates fall into the right wing / authoritarian category.

the test gives a decent idea, but obviously it's not going to cover every issue.

Quite true.  This test doesn't even address the issue of wearing pants.

and to add onto what i said above...  i think the chart showing where each of the current presidential candidates stand is a good indicator of how the test isn't entirely accurate.

Re: Show us where you are on the political compass.

Oh no, it's accurate.  "Liberals" here aren't very liberal at all, if you look across the spectrum and compared to other nations.  Hell, even here, there's stark contrasts.  California Republicans are far more "liberal" (well, socially liberal anyway) than say, South Carolina Republicans.  I mean, look at Ahnuld for Zeus' sake.  Most Republicans here aren't as rabidly anti-gay or anti-choice.  In fact, many have voted for equality legislation and are pro-choice.  This wouldn't fly in more conservative areas where it's pretty much oppose both or you won't get elected.

Likewise, "Conservatives" in Europe aren't very conservative at all.  Canada hasn't given up their healthcare system - a free marketer's nightmare.  Thatcher didn't dismantle NHS.  Sarkozy isn't going to completely change France.

With both parties in the US desperately leaning center trying to attract swing voters, they're more or less different sides of the same coin.  Ideologically, they really aren't that far apart.

I can when I'm on safari, but it doesn't want to work in firefox for some reason.

That's a screwy test. Beside every atheist option was:

Or not sure. Or not important.

I just took it:

1.     Secular Humanism (100%)
2.     Unitarian Universalism (91%)
3.     Theravada Buddhism (90%)
4.     Nontheist (81%)
5.     Liberal Quakers (72%)
6.     Neo-Pagan (67%)
7.     Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (57%)
8.     New Age (48%)
9.     Reform Judaism (46%)
10.     Mahayana Buddhism (46%)
11.     New Thought (43%)
12.     Scientology (43%)
13.     Taoism (40%)
14.     Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (37%)
15.     Hinduism (34%)
16.     Orthodox Quaker (34%)
17.     Sikhism (34%)
18.     Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (29%)
19.     Jainism (28%)
20.     Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (28%)
21.     Eastern Orthodox (28%)
22.     Islam (28%)

24.     Orthodox Judaism (28%)
25.     Roman Catholic (28%)
26.     Bahá'í Faith (21%)
27.     Seventh Day Adventist (21%)

How the HELL do they place me as 28% Mormon?

Apparently all I want is sodomy for everyone.

The last time I took one of these accurate interweb tests, I was slightly authoritarian. But now I apparently make Kucinich look like a centrist.
